Bought a 60gb ps3 for 150$, should i sell or trade it for a slim or new phat
It's 3.41 by the way and i've had my 60gb console since launch and it's fine.
Just need to take good care of them .
oh sorry, lol so it is:P but i just had so much bad like with the 60 gb models. i wish they where more like the ps2, those things can sure take a beating and still work these ps3's are like babys. Have to be in the right place, right temperture on its side. gah lol
Sell it!! Like you said, it's bound to die at some point, or at least it has a VERY high chance of dying on you. If it's still functional, put it on ebay or craigslist, people are suckers for 60gb with backward compatibility, and specially now if you advertise it with firmware 3.41. You could very likely get $300 for a 60gb BC fat with FW3.41 in good condition. That can pretty much pay for a new 160gb slim with a 1yr factory warranty. There's still plenty of pre-3.42 slims out there. About 3 weeks ago I bought a 40gb fat for $180, slapped a spare 80gb on it and sold it for $220 yesterday. Went to Target and got a 160gb slim with firmware 3.40, used a $50 gift card to buy it. They also had about 10 120gb slims in stock too, so I could have bought one of those to be 100% sure I was getting a pre-3.42 console, but their exchange policy is quite generous so I took my chances with the 160gb slim. BC doesn't matter to me at all, I don't even have any ps2 games, never owned one. Even if I did, it wouldn't be hard to score an older used ps2 for cheap. I've heard that ps2 games work/look better on the ps2 anyway.
yea thats what i thought. i never heard of alot of slims ylod but a whole crap load of 60gbs diein so odds are im going to do that
Honestly, I really doubt the chances of a slim getting the ylod are anywhere near the chances of a fat ps3 getting it, specially the earlier model fats, like the 60gb model. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of slims that do get the ylod is in a big part the owner's fault, with being put in a place with poor air circulation, placing it on carpet, excess dust, and those things combined with marathon-length play sessions. That's the recipe for getting the ylod sooner or later. Even if the chances were equal, selling the 60gb BC ps3 and buying a new slim with the money will give you a NEW ps3 with a 1 year warranty, something impossible by keeping the 60gb fat model. If the fat one gets the ylod, you're out of luck, if the slim gets it within a year, you get a new one or that one fixed. Can't go wrong by selling it and getting a slim.
