Bluray drive help –
My mates dropped his ps3 on my doorstep with a faulty bluray drive
Now the laser is shot which I was going to swap no sweat BUT
The drive is in bits and the mechanism that houses all the cogs has 2 lose white cogs which I have no clue where they go does anybody have a pic or a resource where I can see a pic of where the cogs go
The drive houses the kem 410ACA deck
On a side not I have a feeling the leading mechanism is shot
Can i use a bluray drive which has the same size ribbon cable and use his original logic board and it will work??
you can replace the entire drive, however the controler board is married to the PS3 mobo. So you would have to swap the drive boards. If the original is damaged you can try to marry them... ( I've never tried to remarry , plenty of info in the forums on how to do so)
I think the original board is fine I just wanted to make sure that using another drive using the original logic board from the broken drive and making sure the ribbon cable is the same size would work ok
Yup, you should be good. Just make sure to get the correct drive for your model PS3.
After a good 6 hours messing iv managed to salvage the drive and get everything aligned properly
Just waiting on laser to arrive
