Blu ray works half of the time

A friends blu ray drive stopped working about a year ago, in september i replaced his laser. A few weeks later the blu ray didnt read disc's anymore. So i took it home with me. When i came home it worked again. I installed 3.55 OFW then CFW. Copied one of his games to his Internal HDD when it was done it would read disc's anymore.

Could this be the electronica of the blu ray and not the lens, or maybe something on the motherboard or something softwarematically...

Any sugestions? Thanks in advance

probly just needs the lens swabbed with alcohol

But its allready the second lens, il try it but i dont think that would work.

a dirty lens doesnt really matter if its the second third or 20th, and since it is a replaced lens, it's had more contact without outside impurities than an unchanged lens. I've gotten quite a few cheap ps3's that ppl thought needed new disc drives or lasers, cleaned the laser and worked each time. worth a shot before you go replacing it.
