blu ray drive issues –
11-07-2012,03:41 PM
about 2 years ago i repaired several ps3, after i was left with 3 that had issues, one was a ylod, but the other two had problems with the blu ray drives. one is on v3.30, the other is on v3.56. The one on v3.30 is a 60gb fatty and the drive board was knakered but there was talks of a remarry in the near future, so left it.
the other came back from a family member with a fault on the blu ray drive, so i gave them another one i had. i also left it till now.
I am now looking at getting another going, if not both. so i bought what i believed to be a 60gb ylod of ebay, but it was a 40gb with completely the wrong drive in, so now have a drive that could work if i remarry it
now the problems i have are that i need to find out the fault with the blu ray drive, i think the laser has gone i connect it to the ps3, the disk spins but doesnt read, also the right hand corner doesnt show it thinking. Have i connected it to the right machine?? (just looked at one of my old threads and the laser works with an incorrect board, so looks like this one needs remarring too, unless ??)
also i have looked at the remarrying thread and it says i need a dongle to put it in service mode, what and where from???
also they are on such low firmware should i just update them or would i be better off selling them??

sell them if you dont want them yourself and as for the dongle to get into fsm you can also try a psp to do this some work some dont there is a thread around about this somewhere.
