So I'm trying to fix the alignment on my bluray drive. I am using this guide here: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mazLcOleH3g&feature=related]YouTube - PS3 Alignment Checks[/ame] The problem is that if you look at the pivot arm on the back of the drive (the thing shown at about 3:00 on the video), the tray on the right does not have a spot for the pivot arm to go into. My drive is newer than the one in the video and I'm not sure if there is something else for the arm to go into. This makes it so the left rack is not connected to the arm so the right rack does not move with it.

UPDATE: I have gotten it to work without the top on. With just the drive and the loader the disc starts up fine with the top off. The laser start up and the disc spins and everything. The problem is when I put the top on. For some reason the top does not seem to be making the arm engage to lift up the tray with the laser on it.

My Laser was knackered and the mechanism was stuffed so I took a look at this vid to see if I could fix the mech before I went and bought a new laser and now the mechanism AND LASER work. Sweet as a nut

See in the pic at the left of the cut out there is a small pit of plastic running from top to bottom the width of the cutout. The little pin on the pivot has to go on the LEFT of that in the pic

Actually that is the top of the arm. There isn't a pocket there. I cannot put it above that piece of plastic because it would be already engaged with the gears.

Just had a look at my other drive mate and its different from the one in the vid. The one I fixed MUST be the same as yours. Now on the pic, there is no pocket on that side, the pocket is on the other side. But as I said you put the other pin on the pivot to the left of the small bit of plastic in the pic. Follow the vid very closely and make sure you take the motor off AND the pivot arm before you push up on the left rail then replace the arm and motor. If you still cant get it I will take my working PS3 apart and try and get a pic of that drive for you. But I am busy today so maybe tomorrow. Sorry

I have been busy the semester starting back up so I never got a chance to play around with it again. Is there anyway you could show some pics of the back of your drive so I can see it? Like I said, I played around with it for about two hours last time and the right arm was moving completely independently from the left arm. Since the left arm had nothing underneath the pivot, there was no way for the pivot to move the arm down. If I could get some pictures of a working drive it would help out a lot!
