The only real difference is JTAG can "back-up" DLC and all XBLA games, PS3 CFW/JB cannot.
Thats the big one, for me.

The main thing i like is most things for the ps3 are universal, any bt headset will work, any 2.5" sata hd will work. The 360 needs its own xbox branded equipment that is double the cost.
the 1 thing xbox has going for them in my book is better controllers.
Lets see. JTAG=Solder ur board and a lot of headaches if you don't know what you are doing. PS3 CFW 3.55 pretty much does the same thing except for DLC and PSN games which those will be able to get decrypted and signed soon enough. PS3 is way more powerful. I preffer the ps3 controller but that is just my opinion. And a noob can install CFW on the ps3. As long as they don't use Wani's 3.55 V1 on the wrong ps3.
jtag =/= jasper board, so forget about it, buying an xbox with an old board is just being kamikaze!
Just because I PREFER 360 does not mean I'm not interested in PS3 and I do repair them all the time.

It's unfortunate that old generation 360's run too hot and have poor GPU airflow. Again, very easy to fix and prevent RROD if your so inclined. It's also unfortunate that most JTAG's / used 360's for sale are refurbished RROD 'fixed' with amateur 'tricks'. Most 360 Drive / lasers issues are also very cheap and easy to fix. I can get most lasers replacements for under $9 shipped. PS3 lasers, and I get tons of bad ones, cost 5 times as much to replace.

From a free point of view I say the PS3 wins hands down, CFW is about a month and a half old, and I'm assuming that some people were in the same boat as me. I have no soldering skills what so ever but am able to navigate around a computer with some certainty. Of the friends I have that own a jtag 360 not a single one of them did it themselves(its quite an expensive service to get done in my country too). A few of my friends however do have CFW on PS3 coz following the steps was so easy.
2 were 1st gens, 1 was a second gen hdmi that got the e74. sent it in got it repaired and sold it quick and washed my hands of anything 360 related after that. If they couldnt make a reliable console 3+ years into production and work all the problems out they never will and i wont spend any money on them.
