I recently bought a phat PS3 60gb off ebay and after a week it got YLOD. I've been able to fix it (for now) by reflowing it with a heat gun. For the record, I haven't used flux. I know it is better to use it but they were out of stock in my local maplin, so i'll use it next time.
After opening it up, it became obvious to me that, although he said it had never had YLOD before, there were some tell tale signs that it had and had been repaired.
Now that I have fixed it, I can't imagine it will last for long, especially since it could have been reflowed mulitple times. So my question is, does anyone know any tricks to keep a recently fixed YLOD PS3 running for as long as possible (preferably without opening it again)?
My PS3 stands in an open place, and close to a window that I keep open when I'm playing. Anything else anyone has any luck with?
