I just bought a slim 250GB with UFC bundle at Walmart yesterday.

It came with firmware 3.30

I SERIOUSLY doubt you need to worry about the firmware on the new machines for at least a month. You can buy a new one anywhere and there's no way it will have 3.42 or higher.

If it is anything like how Nintendo does with the Wii, unfortunately it will come back with the latest firmware.

I don't know for sure but I wouldn't be surprised.
