I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for help but here i go: My ps3 shows an 8002f1f9 error after its attempt of installing an update. It always seems to stop at 90%. Everytime I start the system back up again, it leads to another attempt at installing the update. It doesn't load the menu so I can't install the update through usb. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
What payload are you using? What backup manager?
I'm sorry i don't know what a payload is or what kind of backup manager it is. How would i find that out. Thanks.
What are you jailbreaking your PS3 with? What are you using to load game backups?
From the sound of things, it doesn't seem like they are jailbreaking; it's never mentioned. And this is just the PS3 General forum.Quote:

Ooops, didn't realize this was the PS3 General Forums. I've been so used to replying to a hundred noobs a day having issues with JBing, that I never thought someone might have a legitimate problem with their console. LOL. Forget everything I said.
Yes he is correct. I didn't jailbreak my ps3. It was recently repaired from the ylod issue. Once i got it back, i tried updating the system and got that errror. It won't boot to recovery mode.
It sounds to me like you are either missing something or something is no longer working. Which model ps3 do you have, as this can happen on older models if the card reader is not working or can be a problem with the BD drive.
You can also check gary's post at the top of the forum for unbricking your ps3 as it covers this type of problem.
It's a 1st gen ps3.
Updating firmware I assume?
I'd either do as another mentioned and remove the hard drive and reformat it.
Or find another you could use and format that one to not lose your saves and such.
