a mate's 60gb ps3 turns on, solid green light, no picture or audio, and the fan spins really fast...any ideas?
First, make sure everything is set up correctly on the TV. Then with your PS3 off, press and hold the power button, past the first beep, once you hear the second beep, let go. If this was the issue, it should proceed to ask you how you want your video set up.
This happened to me once, come to find out my parent's TV only went up to 1080i and my console was set to 1080p for my TV.
Let us know if this helps at all.
nah that was my first thought as well...resetting the display on the ps3 didnt help (holding down the power button untill i hear 3 beeps)...i have also tried the hdmi cable as well as the av cable i have opened it up and played around with the rsx chip (read that it could be solved by putting a bit of pressure on it because the solder was dodgy)...that didnt help...when i turned it on it would beep 3 times and just go to a flashing red light...i have since undone all the stuff i had done and its back to just a solid green light and the fan just spins extremely fast...no audio...no visual...
Any hard drive activity? the LED lights by the USB ports.
If not then it could be a bad hard drive.
hard drive is fine, have used it in another ps3 and also tried formatting. still the same issue...
Sounds like it about to go YLOD mate.
