3.60 OFW –
I'm sitting on two playstation 3s...
1) 80gb CECHL01 bricked by the 3.56v1 hard drive bug, and
2) 60gb CECHA01 kiosk converted to retail (causing it to lose bluray playback.)
The 60gb is for modding, and the 80gb is for OFW use.
Since my 80gb is 3.56v1 bricked, I did some research to see if 3.60 fixes the bug. Some people say it does, some say it doesn't. Personally, I didn't see anything in the release notes, and whenever I try to install the 3.60 OFW on my 80gb, I always get the "The data is corrupted. (error code here)" screen anyway.
Is 3.60 supposed to be a fix for this, or am I just wasting my time?
Also, does sending in a ps3 to sony for repairing something THEY screwed up cost me anything?
I'm pretty sure if you format the drive with your PC and throw it back in the PS3, update to 3.56V2 or 3.6, and you should be good to go.
Consider all data on the hard drive lost and irretrievable..
No need to send that to sony..

Well, it didn't work with either 3.56v2 or 3.60. I gave sony a call, they agreed to fix the hard drive free of charge. Sucks, but at least it'll work again.
