Has anyone been able to get a 2TB HDD to work properly with their PS3 yet..?
Im talking about using it as the internal HDD..!!
there are no 2TB 2.5inch HDD's that i know of, therefore a 3.5 would not fit
i just installed a 1TB internal HDD into my ps3, but to get it to fit i had to open up the ps3 and raise all the hardware and trim some of the inner case
I was talkn bout a 2TB 3.5" HDD hooked into the internal PS3 SATA genious...!!
Hey genius...!! Use the search function next time...!! You've been here since 2005 so you have no excuse...!! Genius...!!

And no, to answer your question; No. It will not. The PS3 takes a maximum of 1TB, internal or external.
Okay so here is my post from ps3hax about 3 weeks ago regarding this exact same issue. Unfortunately 2TB drive will not boot. I have now tried 2 brands (Western Digital and Seagate) and both have the same results.
"So today i have tried connecting a 2TB drive via esata to an external enclosure and using an adapter i found on ebay. Hooked it up and all i get is a black screen. I can get to recovery mode and format the drive but thats about it. I also have the hdxt adapter (purchased many months ago but forgot about it) Will be testing to see if its the adapter, external case im using or if its the hdd itself. Will post when i figure this out.
Forgot.. I put the old drive back in just to see if it was an issue with the system but no.. The system boots fine.. Wondering if its a limitation with drive size the ps3 can see?
Update: Swapped 2TB for 500GB and all works.. So i have to assume its either the PS3 not recognizing the 2TB or the external does not support the 2TB. Anyone else have any success with 2TB drives on the ps3?
I did check the external case. It's a hornettech hover ssc and the specs list that it will support up to 2TB. Connected the drive to my Win7 pc and it did recognize the 2TB. (after going into disk part in command prompt and formating the drive). Has to be a limitation..
Update#2: Installed a 1TB drive. Works, however.... When i go to system info it shows the drive capacity as 931GB (thats normal) but the available space is 828GB. Now I know that the PS3 does not reserve 103GB's for the system itself. So I pulled the drive and ran DiskPart in Win7, cleaned the partition table, formated the drive back to ntfs, pulled the drive from the Win7 machine and reconnected it to the ps3. As expected the ps3 wanted to format so I did. Checked the system info again and still the 103GB's are not available. Rebooted to recovery mode and tried restoring default setting, restoring the file system, rebuilding the data base and restoring the PS3. Still no luck in recovering the 103GB's.. Guess I'll have to deal with losing it.. Or purchase another external case and format the 2TB to Fat32 so I can use that.. Wish Sony would have updated the hdd capacity prior to 3.41..."
Just to add to this, I was unable to use either of the drives as externals as you have to have the 2TB external usb drive connected prior to booting. I could not jailbreak the system if the external was connected when booting. I was able to get the 2TB recognized but only if I did not jailbreak the system. So if anyone has been able to get an external usb or an internal 2TB working with a jailbroke system PLEASE TELL ME HOW!!

In this part are you saying you are trying to use the 2TB externally with the USB connection? I don't use a 2TB external but I do use a 1.5TB without any trouble. When I am booting the system I unplug the drive so that it is not connected when I do the JB and I plug it back in after. Works fine for me and I have the full space (about 1.36 TB after formatting to fat32)
So 2TB are possible and all of it can be seen when formatted in fat32 but you have to have it connected before powering on the system. Try connecting after the system boots and it will not show. Until an update to the payload has been made, unfortunately I don't think you can use 2TB drive with any jailbreak. I would like to be proven wrong but have checked many forums regarding this and no one has been successful.
Not sure if it'll work with JB but you can get a 2TB drive to work as internal.
