Has anybody sucessfully installed a 1tb internal hard drive and what are your experiences with them?

Thinking about getting a 1tb samsung mt2 5200rpm hard drive and modding the caddy to make it fit.

I can either get 640GB for ~£50 or 1tb for ~£70, decisions decisions

There is few topics about 1Tb internal hd's, try to search some of those.

    I installed today WD SCORPIO BLUE 1TB 2.5" SATA2 5.2K 8MB (WD10TPVT).

Installed without original gage, it was a little tricky to get SATA data/ac-connectors to right spot but finally succeed. I didn't have to mod anything.

At this moment I can't say any more about hd performance or possible issues because i'm restoring my data (500Gb) with PS3 backup tool (estimated 10-12 hours).

I have tested earlier Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD6400BPVT 640GB 5400 RPM 2.5" SATA and I had this struttering problem with few games, especially FIFA 2011 so later today i'll be a little bit wiser in that area too.

My last hd Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB SATA2 16MB GFO - 2.5" didn't have any struttering in games.

.. forgot to mentioned that my PS3 model is Slim.

    I bought a 1TB samsung 12.5mm HDD from newegg for $80.

    I have a 60GB fat (now 1tb)..

The 12.5mm was bigger than the original and caddy combined..

I took apart my ps3 completely and ripped some stuff off...

I also had to raise the SATA connectors for the HDD to go in...

    Forcefully it worked.

I do NOT recommend it. Get the seagate 750GB 9.5mm instead for less of a headache.

I had 80 GB Fat, got the same as above poster. There are two little nubs in the fat that have to be pushed down before the drive fits right. (I pushed the whole bottom of the cage down and it fit great.)

Just know if you get a 1TB it IS a lot of work to get it in. If you aren't ready for it, got with the largest 9.5" you can get your hands on instead.

    lol

    here what i did -

bought wd 1tb black hdd 3.5"
    enclosure for the hdd
    m-f sata cable

so i have a m-f sata cable plugged into the ps3 and then into the hdd in the case and the case powers the drive, when the ps3 turns on the hdd powers up and when the ps3 turns off, so does the hdd.

best thing i ever did, no need to rip apart my ps3 or mod and caddy things. and if later down the track the ps3 can support 2tb then i can just switch it easily.

if anyone want pics i can post them.

Nothing new about reporting WD SCORPIO BLUE 1TB.

First time restoring backup it stucked to 95% (waited 2 hours)

Deleted all 4Gb+ games and tried again, now it stucked to 88%, nice

I wait 1 hour and then I try cloning with pc my & hdclone software.
