Yes it fits. Raven already posted my original thread. Couldn't be easier. As is apparent in this thread, you'll have to lose the drive cage so it's actually less work overall than a normal replacement.

My 750GB broke down and all I had was a Samsung 1TB that I could spare. It's super easy to put it inside the PS3 slim just without the metall bracket. However it's close to impossible to get it out. I noticed this before puting it in so I made my own little thing with 2 screwes and 1 wire, I saw on the net after that I wasn't the only one to think of that so there are pictures out there. The screws need to have realy flat heads to fit. And it's rather easy. If your one of those people that live day by day and don't worry about the future you could easyly mount the drive inside however it will be next to impossible to get it out without opening up the whole PS3. I almost did this myself however I stopped when I saw how tight it was, I already tried to pull it out twice quite easyly. You could maybe use 2 screwdrivers to pull it out but then there is a risk you damage the PS3 in the process. The damage should only be in appearance not the functionality. God Luck!!!
And it works great, have 880GB to my dissposal. You really need mutch space because the games are installed twice, first by the Manager open or multi or whatever you use, and after that The Game installs 40-70% of itself when you start to play. with 20GB games you need like 30 GB per game so you fit only 30 Games on the biggest drives. on the 360 you could fit 100 Games on the same drive.
My brother got a 120 GB original and he always need to erease games when he is not playing them. You could think of using an external USB drive however even with USB 2 it feeels like your loading from the disk. I Used PSKEY with Hermes 4B and now I use CFW with PL3, I had to put the GTA IV on an External drive just to use it. Now I use My GTA IV Original as the disk to start all my games. Before that I used a DEMO I got with a playstation Magazine, however now I don't need to eject the game all the time, the ejecting really broke the DEMO down. With CFW I can have the Blu Ray disk in the drive all the time. I'ts a pitty I need to risk my favorite game but the loading from External drive was a joke, don't get any faster loading. I hope Hermes releases his 4B source so people can add it to the managers and I can once again put GTA IV Complete Edition in a safe place. This game really feels better playing on the PS 3 then the 360, It's the only game I got for the boath systems, the more money I can throw at them the better will the next game in THE GTA Series be. I even hope they make more mini games in the same city as GTA IV, because it's along wait for GTA V...
will a YLOD occur if no caddy is in there?
I made the move to 1TB Friday night, the biggest problem I had was the two nubs in front of the SATA connector. Trying to push the HD past these ended up with a scratched up bottom. I had to push these down and it clicked right in.
