i download 1080p movies and put them onto my ps3 hard drive but they always stutter does any one no why, my ps3 is connected to my hd tv by hdmi lead

Thats a strange one...maybe try some different codecs and containers and 1080i and 720p to isolate the problem.
Could also be an uncertified HDMI cable that is struggling with the pure 1080p output.

I've had problems running them with Showtime, now I just stream from my PC, what are you using?
download it in and then copy it to my ps3 hard drive with ps3 media server but the 720p work fine, if i have to convert it i use roxio creator 2012 pro
PS3 Media Center is crap when it comes to playing AVI (xvid-hd, divx-hd). I use it only for copying over videos I transcoded first with mkv2vob. It takes 5 minutes to transcode a 1080p movie then longer to copy it to the PS3 (LOL). Transcoding with mkv2vob also removes that Cineva protection (if you have a DTS sound system). Give it a try.
