1 tb HDD Replacement –
Sorry if this has already been posted but i couldnt find it
i was wonding if theres a 1tb hdd that i can get for my ps3 that will fit without me having to do any modifications to the ps3 itself
i read one thread that said you need to cut the tray that the hdd sits on for it to work i also read you have to stick foam in there? not somthing i want to do to my ps3...
i read on some reviews that the WD scorpio blue is actually a little bit thicker so it wont fit... anyone know a hdd i could buy that will fit just right into my ps3? a decent one at that..
also was wondering if a 1tb hdd is hard on the ps3? as in overheating and what have you? any imput would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance
there's tons of threads about this already but basically if you get a 1tb you either have to mod the cage or go without because they are too big (height wise ; 12.5 mm i believe). also if you are going to upgrade, make sure its 5400, there have been reports of 7200 overheating.
Pretty sure 750gb is the largest drive on the market you can get that still fits within the size specifications. (9.3mm)
Here is a picof my drive. I have no caddy and the screws are there just to help remove it. It is very snug but it works. The drive is the SAMSUNG SpinPoint MT2 HM100UI 1TB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache.
