Personally I'm hoping that his new payload will be a lot more stable than what we currently have on 3.55. Never tried hermes so can't comment on that.

But we will still need backup managers and they will still be updated regularly... Won't we?
Edit: maybe I should go look at how hermes works before making such statements, or am I right?
i guess i would rather have type 2.
1.) You would still need backup managers.

If you want functionality like that, use OFW. It is, literally, plug and play.
yes type 1 is the way to go.
1st release has worked flawlessly in my case and i would like to see the payload introduced in the same way. very stable and simple to use i can allow the kids to use the console without having to patch payloads into memory beforehand.
Type 2 for me thanks. Hermes 3.41 custom on my PHAT 500 /60 Gb.
Hate all the flashing business - shit myself everytime an error message comes up. If we can flash once and do all the magic with a simple runme pkg then all the better.
Hoping for PL3 PKG on hermes firmware now - more options the better. Both always worked for me fine.
Was minutes away from trying last weeks ****up on my PHAT 256 meg - would of had a brick!
Type 1 is hardcoded and Type 2 is manual...
I think a better idea is rig it so it loads a payload.bin on startup so no need to manually run lv2 patcher yet people could switch their payload out. It would also mean less chance of lv2 brick and Waninkoko could just update the payload.bin vs releasing a whole CFW everytime he changes the payload.
If you rig it to to start on bootup, then you lose Blu-Ray playback right on startup.
Now seriously. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE HERE?
Most arguments for Type 1 are "no need to run lv2 patcher manually".
Seriously? It all comes down to laziness with most people.
Type 2 is:
-more compatible, less brick risk during installation
-keeps all functions UNTIL you manually load a payload(Blu-Ray playback)
