Major glitch in Zelda 1 second quest on FCEUX. Unplayable. Please help. –

I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not because the link I clicked on from Google listed this site as "Official FCEUX and SNES9x forums", but on the site it keeps saying that it's a forum for PlayStation, so I don't know what's going on.
Anyway, if this is the right place to post this, I was wondering if anyone knew about this glitch and if there's a way to get around it. I was playing the original NES Zelda 1 because I decided to play every Zelda game from the first all the way to the most recent in order of their release dates, even playing over the ones I already played before. Anyway, I'm using the NES emulator called FCEUX to play Zelda 1 and 2, and I'm on level four of the second quest of Zelda 1 right now and for some reason, if I get hit by one of those things referred to by the instruction manual as a "bubble", those things that are like a ball of energy with a skull in the middle of them that make it to where you can't swing your sword for a while after they hit you, for some reason it keeps making it to where I can *never* swing my sword again. I've waited several *minutes* and still can't swing my sword, and it remains like that as I go from room to room and even if I exit the dungeon and walk all around the overworld. I can still use other items, but just can't swing the sword. It didn't do this at all throughout the whole entire first quest, but for some reason now in the second quest it's doing it.
I found that if I leave the dungeon and go up a few times to get to the secret fairy spring and get healed by the fairy, it makes it to where I can swing my sword again, but then if I get hit by one of those "bubbles" again, it does it again to where I can never swing my sword. Something seems to be going wrong with the reading of the line of code that tells it to allow Link to swing his sword again after a few seconds and it's just disabling it permanently, which, needless to say, makes the game basically unplayable.
If anyone knows anything about this glitch, and more importantly a way around it without having to use another emulator, please let me know what to do. The big reason I don't want to use another emulator is because I've been saving the game using a state file only because I don't like having to make Link die just to save the game, and if I start using another NES emulator now, I don't think I can use the state file I have with FCEUX.
Someone please help me. This is so irritating...

Man, I feel so stupid...
Well, never mind. I just now found out that apparently it's not a glitch but is *supposed* to be that way in the game. I just noticed that there're three different types of those "bubble" things in the second quest. There's the regular whitish ones you normally see that disable your sword for a few seconds, and then there's also reddish ones that disable it permanently and then there's bluish ones that *enable* your sword again, so even though they look like enemies, the blue ones are actually helpful because they enable use of your sword again and don't do any damage to Link's hearts, as none of the "bubbles" do. So I guess this was intended and you're just supposed to have to try to get hit by one of the blue bubbles if you end up getting hit by one of the red ones.
...Um, well, sorry for posting that for nothing, but at least I figured out that it's not a glitch like I thought it was.
