Raganarok -> Will ps2snes9x support DTV480p?
Hi ragnarok2040. I cant seem to make it work.
Here is what i did:
Created a cd image with "unpacked_fceu.elf" (or w/e that file is called) according to this guidelines.
Then burned it on CD-R (I did use Alcohol 100% instead of suggested burner tool though).
Tested it on PCSX2.0 and it worked fine: I saw the main window with "FCEUltra" title and browser with mmc:, mass:, cdfs:. I haven't got the chance to try loading the ROMs since i dont know how - the cd image contained folder with NES roms but FCEUltra browser couldnt open "cdfs:" device (idk mb PCSX2.0 CD/DVD plugin troubles, though i did use standard Linuxapps plugin). I tried using "mass:" device to browse my USB Flash (FAT32) but it seems PCSX doesnt support Flash.
Then i tried it on the real PS2 console and... well, nothing . It did show "PlayStation 2" logo for 0.2 seconds and then instantly switched to PS2's own Browser with only Memory Card 1 visible.
I used latest release of fceu.
My PS2 version is:
CD Player 1.20
PS Driver 1.10
DVD Player 2.13E
I planned to use your emulator like this:
I boot the PS2 from the cd, then it shows me FCEUltra browser, then i browse the cd (the same cd that the console booted from) for ROMs and load them.
I didnt use any configuration files for fceu and it seem to load fine like that in PCSX.
Which modification does ur PS2 console has ?
Im not sure I understood you. If you ask if its a chipped console or not, then yes - it has some stuff that enables running non-licensed CD/DVDs. I was able to run PSOne game images burned on CD-R on my PS2 console. Other than that i dont have any info. Actually this console is not _mine_ and the real owner is newbie in this questions.
This is what i mean..
It's look like ur PS2 has difficulties to read ur disc.
While use Alcohol, have u set the type to PS2 ?
Try using IMGBurn to put the BIN to a CD.
Other thing that u can do is create a DVD with a dummy of 1 gb.
Use $ony CDVD Gen.
Or, i think this is the best way...
Burn the ULE CD found at SKS
Put the emulator and the ROM into a USB stick.
Run the emulator from ULE
it has such options only when making image, not burning it. Anyway it did set writemode to Raw/Dao and some other stuff that looked normal . Idk but isnt opening .cue file is enough for burner to know how to burn?
While use Alcohol, have u set the type to PS2 ?
I'm about to burn uLE 4.16 CD (the latest version of CD image available).
What should I use to burn it? IMGBurn or $ony CDVD Gen.
and another thing. Is it normal that when my USB Flash 1GB is plugged in PS2 i dont see it in PS2 Browser? I never worked with USB Flash + PS2 . I did format it to FAT32 (using Quick Format though) by WinXP standard method.
The best way to burn ISO is IMGBurn at 4x.
$ony CDVD Gen is to create a valid PS2 DVD format disc.
The USB stick will never be seen by the PS2 Browser.
Only programm can see it, like ULE, SMS, etc.
IT WORKS . Thx a lot.
1. Is it possible to set "Turbo-A" and "Turbo-B" NES buttons to smth else other than X and Square. I've found the Autofire option in menu but it works instead of "single press" button, while i want to use both methods in the game. Also i tried the "Configure Input" option in FCEU but it doesnt seem to work - I press "Ok" but it doesnt launch anything to set up input (i assume input=controller=gamepad).
2. Why is the sound in NTSC emulation mode is so chooppy? It works ok under PAL but this plays the sound more slowly (and the game itself iirc).
EDIT: nvm, read this thread and it appears to be a known problem.
3. Can i save savestates to my USB? I've changed the Savepath to my Flash but it gives me "Error saving state" when i try this in the game.
4. Is it possible to return to uLaunchElf after loading FCEU.ELF ? I've tried to do smth like this ("Exit to Elf" option) but all i get is black screen with no further response from the console.

It works great!
I just wounder if I can start playing the games on a USB memory whitout first starting a cd/dvd in the ps2.
I have all the games and save folder on a usb memory. But to get it to start FCEUltra i need to start whit a cd. Is there any other way?
Danat, the last version I released had configurable input... I think. Can't remember now if I made a release after I added that, heh, but it's in one of the previous posts... I think I made a link to it from the first post as well. As for the sound, the previous versions were all single-threaded, timed by the vsync of the ps2. This caused problems because NTSC emulation only really worked on NTSC consoles and vice-versa for PAL. Not only that, emulation was slowed by how many milliseconds it took the vsync routine to return so it caused sound buffer underruns. That was about 16.67 milliseconds or 20 milliseconds worth of computing time that was just used for doing nothing but waiting. There are also some bugs with file path handling and file handling itself which affected both save games and save states and cnf saving. I think one of the versions also had a problem with selecting a boot elf path.
The next release is being redesigned using a proper design layout, though. It should help reduce the amount of bugs that are made or ones that would have gone unnoticed when testing. Thanks to EP and radad, the bugs in ps2sdk's file handling functions were fixed. It'll also be decoupled from the thread with the vsync routine, which I think will remove the sound buffer underruns. It's also using a different graphics rendering lib called gslib, while not as feature complete as gsKit, supports more display modes and has no dependencies. I've been extending it so it's in a more useable state.
djsnack, you should be able to start the elf using uLE or other launchers to boot it from other devices. It should be bootable by fmcb or modchip as well, afaik.
On to the news, I've gotten all the resolution modes working, as far as I know. The low-res and high-res NTSC modes work for me, at least. Right now I'm modifying ffgriever's example method of getting ROMVER so the mode can be set on newer pstwos without using strlen and strncmp, since, as I mentioned before, gslib compiles without dependencies.
