Xbox 360 Slim Vs Phat –
05-23-2012,02:53 AM
Wich one of these two , lets say jasper and the 250gb slim version of the xbox 360 , is more reliable . I saw some videos on youtube with the slim getting rrod (rlod) , but I think they were fake or something broken in them , not from overheating . So wich one will last longer , and im curious about ps3 slim also. Some sites sayd the xbox slim is better than ps3 slim in fact of ylod and rlod , because the xbox slim has the temperature meter and shuts down when overheat, so that way you want fry any pieces on the motherboard.
So: Falcon/jasper vs Xbox slim vs PS3 slim

i think slim is better long live and less consumption of power and the most important thing is rrod unlike the phat one .wifi build in Slim

Definitely the slim. They pretty much fixed the RROD on the last few non slim models, and the slims are completely re-engineered to improve on that even. Plus you get wireless Internet and the hard drives will be easier to find than the old ones. I would not be surprised if the hard drive for the slim also works with the next gen XBox as well.

I have owned a few Jaspers and they have never failed on me. My sister has her MW2 Jasper that is on almost 24/7 since Nov 10, 2009 and it has never failed. The 360, like any electronic device will eventually fail, it's just a matter of when. The Jaspers pretty much eliminated the RRoD issues which were due to heat and solder joins breaking. The slim uses less power and therefore produces less heat which is always a good thing. Since drastic heating and cooling of the 360 was the main reason for RRoD, producing less heat means less problems.
I had a Xenon 360 from May 2006 that lasted over 3 years. The slims should be more reliable.

RGH Elite over here and I love it <3
I gotta tell you something bro I think people get RROD because they don't take good care of their consoles. Some keep it on day and night (if you know what I mean)
Slims are good because its lighter and it consumes less power but it depends on how you play your xbox I think but just get a slim bro. I got the elite because I liked the way it looked than the slim.

oki, so Slim is better than phat , but what about ps3 slim ? and dont forget xbox slim shuts down before it overheats the motherboard ,with the new option built in , so the motherboard wont fry , ps3 slim doesnt have that option

I do not believe a slim is better than a fat Jasper. If I had to bet which console would last longer (longest lifespan), I'd go with Jasper. The reason being Jasper still has the two processors, someone mentioned the slim takes less power, but that's all in one chip. The Jasper GPU does not consume as much power as the slim CGPU all in one chip. The slim CGPU runs on average slightly hotter than a Jasper GPU. I have both Jasper and Slim Trinity RGH consoles here to test temps. 360 slim failures are starting to emerge (e82 - yes, it's real) and will increase in frequency as these age. Still with the even older Jaspers, failures are practically unheard of. Now as far as cooling modifications, just a little properly placed duct tape on a Jasper fan shroud will cool the GPU an extra 10-15C, without even touching the fan wires. On the other hand you can run the slim fan at full speed by disconnecting the blue wire, but you have to live with the noise. They are both good consoles (360 S and Jasper) and I think they both would outlast the average stock PS3, even PS3 slim. Unless it's a PS3 slim with my Fan Booster chip, how can I resist mentioning that!

hm, I never heard of e82 on slims , but I suppose you are right , so the xbox slim wont last longer either , I tought only the slims from 2010 has errors like that

If you modify the xbox slim fan as soon as your warranty is out, it should last a lifetime. Better safe than sorry. Even my Jasper has a 9V fan mod because I'd rather see the GPU running at 46C than 58C.

but if I mod my fan to 12v wouldnt the sound be too extreme?
and I'm curious about airflow in case , I got the slim horizontal , I know it has only one fan but I sense some air going in console from side panels
