Microsoft: Project Natal to replace remote controls

The forthcoming Project Natal motion control technology could replace the television remote control in the future, automatically scheduling content according to the people in a room, according to comments made by Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten.

Speaking at the Streaming Media West show, as reported by Yahoo! Tech, Whitten described the increasing number of video applications - which includes Netflix in the US and Sky Player in the UK - on the Xbox 360 as the "biggest surprise" of his job.

Whitten also predicted that the increasing range and number of sources for video content required a new, easier to use controller than the traditional remote control - and that Project Natal was well placed to take over this role.

"With the flick of my wrist I can change a channel," Whitten said. "With the power of my voice I can start a movie."

"I don't believe we are currently in the golden age of the television or the golden age of the game console or the golden age of the Internet; frankly, five years from now I don't know that you'll be able to tell the difference between those worlds," Whitten added.

With the number of channels and content sources constantly increasing Whitten also suggested that in the future content would be organised according to brands and/or the user - with additional content being suggested automatically.

"The context is not 1 billion channels, but one," Whitten said. "One channel, with what I want, when I want it."

i know i heard about ifectus i am going to try it get my console unbanned there is some serious unbanners there
but i heard from none so they are all useless i guess

who needs infectus unless you plan on downgrading the kernel (if you even can)

if you just want the hdd restored, you can do it for about $5 worth of parts.

You can't unban yourself, unless you have a "time-machine" and go back in the past before the summer'09 update, and use the jtag/xell hack to get the special cpukey burned into the cell processor, then you can decrypt the keyvault and replace it with one from another 360 which you also need to have done before the summer'09 update.

Any banned console will of course have the summer'09 update so, the only way is with a "time-machine" or having a vision of the future, and you had dumped the cpukey ahead of time.

The stupid tutorials people have posted on the 'net is silly, like the ones confirmed working makes it even harder to explain to people. Those tutorials were written by people that had in the past got their cpukey so it makes it easier.

Plus finding another untouched 360 console which has not been used on live or with new games to unbanned yourself is silly. it is alot cheaper to just buy a new console, unless you are HG Wells and do own a time-machine, but then you would not be trying to play on live, you would have much more real things to do with your life.

hmmm i am all ok on this never really cared about this but i think i have a xbox liying around somewhere which i never used for a while because of heatups so i should be able to get something from there right
