M$ copying Sony again! -- 360 Slim coming soon!

M$ does not like the fact Sony is selling the PS3 Slim like hotcakes.

So M$ is busy at work in finalizing their new combined cpu/gpu board.

It looks like it can be fitted into a smaller case also!

So far it looks real, but with some major changes.

#1: HDD Sata connector, so possible internal HDD now, instead of removable!

#2: Digital Audio Out connector

#3: Only ONE memory card connector instead of two.

#4: Optional Eject button on silkscreen, so possible new dvd drives are planned, like slot loading with button or slim dvd laptop-type drive.

#5: Looks like the usb ports are moved to be all in the back now.

#6: Strange WTF connector on the top-left side, maybe new type of external HDD connector? -- Optional clip-on accesory? -- Don't know.

Perhaps if it is actually as small as the pics show people will not stack stuff on top of it and block all the vents.

I can't tell you how many people's homes I go to and see their 360 right on top of their super heater Amp, with a few DVD's on top of the 360:rolleyes:

You would think after all this time they would find a way to avoid that RROD issue when designing a newer smaller console, so i dont really expect that will be the issue......but im sure some other issue will take its place. :rolleyes:

The picture of the 360 box fitting in your hands is a joke!

anyhow, from reports it looks like the 360 is going be in the same case style, just the board is smaller, unit make be made a little shorter length-wise, same basic height, etc.

so the valhalla chipset happened to be a prototype slim 360 all along. it makes sense since the valhalla was rumored be an all in one gpu & cpu 45 nm super chip.

@gary: do you think that this new chipset will eliminate the E73 errors? this new mobo will be based on just revisions from the older 360 mobos. i think that the red rings will continue to plague this new prototype.

unless they fix that monstrous cooling fan, it has no right to be called slim ;)

i'm still wondering about one thing - how come no console manufacturer ever think about using 2.5" sata drives (the ones used in laptops) ? that would allow for a more slim case.
