and for the hell of it, I just did it. no effect on the hard drive. still disabled.
I think everybody that can should work hard at trying to fully hack the xbox360 since microsucks is ****ing everybody over on banning there consoles.
There is a lot of progress being made. I found the jtag on the xbox360 a while back i have known about it for a while but i am probably not the only 1 that has found it. I have not been able to do anything with it until recently since there has been homebrew developed to bypass hypervisor security.
This is great because now homebrew can be developed for the 360 and will be fully exploited like the original xbox. I will be glad the day i am able to play my legal game backups from HD and homebrew. It will be a great multimedia machine with XBMC even better then the original xbox since there is better newer hardware.
.Movies could be watched in HI def. Here is a link to a tutorial on the jtag that eveybody knows about know. http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?na...=5543&forum=86
Im not claiming to have originally found this i just knew about it from looking at a 360 mobo 1 day and i seen the jtag pins. This is a good hardware mod that will allow homebrew to be loaded to a 360. I hope in a year XBMC will be developed to run on the 360.
i just wonder if there will be enough motivation coming from 360 homebrew devs to make good homebrew programs for the limited amount of jtag/xell users who managed to prevent their consoles from getting the newer 89xx kernel via the 8/11/09 update.
in either case, xell is great news.
And everyone knows that M$ of course made sure the JTAG hole was plugged before the hack become public knowledge, so alot of people that wanted it were already updated, and of course all the new games have and need the new update to run making the idea of having a homebrew and gaming machine in the same box very remote and useless.
Now on the second-half of this problem, lets say you decide forget about LIVE, forget about UPDATE, forget about new GAMES, or buy a second x360 which is still JTAG'able and run XELL, you will find you at about the same speed or some causes less then the xbox1, as you are still locked in small corner of the cell processor just running basic oversee functions, you don't have the full 3-cell cpu power with full graphics power, so that is why even tho the JTAG hack has been out for almost 6 months now, and even longer in the hands of the ones that knew about it, no real useful "homebrew" has been designed or written, as your processing power is still limited.
Oh'well, hopefully M$ will make another bug in one of their updates which might open new doors.
I had an epiphany. Someone needs to make something for the 360 much like the wii now has WODE.
it would be a full drive replacement only it would use the drive board from your original drive with stock firmware. the internal of the drive would feature an ejectable 2.5" SATA HDD that you can load with games. there would be a 'in between' controller board between the hard drive and stock drive board.
tap eject once on the system while it's running, it would bring up the menu for games. hold eject button, and the unit would eject the hard drive.
Damn thing would be expensive, but you wouldn't have to worry about the bans anymore. :D
Anyboady gonna join the class action sute?
