At this time there is no way to softmod the xbox360 slim (or phat for that matter). The main main reason why the xbox 1 was so easy to softmod was because the system itself closely resembled a common pc (360 is power pc based) and the game saves for xbox 1 were nothing more then a simple .zip file. MS learned from there mistakes and made sure that it wouldn't be so easy this time around. In fact the only way to run homebrew on the 360 is to have a pre NXE Xbox360 and you have to JTAG it. All slims are post NXE updated thefore no homebrew. There is some work being done to use mod chips to dual boot kernels on the slim but you better be handy with a soder iron. Hope that helps

You are wrong at one point Thor107. You can flash the drive of the 360 and play back ups. You need a hard mod. The second thing is that all SLIMS are flashable as the new firmware that has been released is now compatible with the SLIM DVD Drive(LITE-ONS). You would require an unlocked PCB and some soldering skills in order to flash your 360.

He was asking about soft modding the Xbox360. I'm pretty sure he's aware of flashing the dvd drive but even with that it still will not allow homebrew just allows the use of backup games..

Plus chances are he bought a newer slim and that requires the "kamikaze hack" which requires you to use a dremel and drill into the firmware chip (ouch)!

You mean those Winbond drives, his best bet would be to wait it out for the X360Key which would be the easiest way out. Plus I think that alternative methods have been found out to unlock the Winbond drives.

Even with the X360key you still need to dump the firmware the costs of the x360key plus a key extractor will set you back upwards of $200 +
