Nearly nobody has touched the BBNAV as it would only install and work on Japanese consoles.
This in unlike the HDDOSD, as the HDDOSD had an American release at least.

Binutils v2.9 is older than the one in the homebrew PS2SDK: v2.14.
Sure, you can probably use the SONY tools to compile those old kernels, but probably nothing newer will work with those tools...

You most likely going to need a sony 40gb HDD to do this.... if it can be now that is.
If you really wanted to use the Sony Linux OS on the PS2, why are you bothering with the PSBBN? Why not just go back to use the official PS2Linux kit? It's not like it's very much older...
Games will probably never boot off the Linux OS because they will use the entire Playstation 2. PS2Linux replaces the entire EE kernel too, if I'm not mistaken.
