No you won't be able to setup Linux on your 90002.
You would need a PS2 with a built in hdd bay which the Fat PS2 has only because the OS is installed there.
Without the PS2 Linux kit, you would need a mod chip to boot the 2 back ups discs. ESR will not work either.
It would work if you had PS2 or v12 slim (70012) with HD combo and a mod chip.
but i have ps2 with modchip.....!!!
any way really thanks
The current version of ps2-linux is not stable enough to run from usb on a Slim PSTwo. It will play the LiveDVD or SMB/NFS running over the network. I am not sure if it would work with HDCombo (has anyone ever got that working with PS2-Linux?) but it definitely works best on a FAT PS2 with a hard drive. For your model PS2, if you are not happy with the LiveDVD, then search for NFS or SMB in the PS2-Linux forum for the various installation methods. Unfortunately, most of these methods are not easy as running an elf at this time, and it helps to have previous Linux experience.
Why not? Are there any 'special' incompatibilities involved with this PS2-Versions?
Not true. Like deba5er already mentioned, you can start Linux from pretty much all devices... DVD, USB, internal HDD, LAN (SMB/NFS).Quote:

This only applies to the official Sony-PS2-Linux!Quote:

You can start linux-distros from burned DVDs, which are of the 'Fake-DVD'-Type (like in SMS, not ESR).
Not necessary, like I said before... Linux itself can be started from different devices.Quote:

Only the Sony-Linux might be an exception, but even that can run from other devices, if you patch it a lot thought...
Btw.: Are you sure that the Sony-PS2-Linux you seem to talk about, is compatible to Slims with HD-Combo?
confuse will it work......
i think dvd will be best
for 90004
I have a V14 75001
I just extracted the file KLOADER.ELF from the Live Dvd Iso
and then copy to a usb pen drive, then i run that file with uLaunch with the DVD inside of the PS2.
I am using Free McBoot 1.8
Hope that can work with you.
Greetings.
what else i have to download after DVD LIVE ///
tutorial is little bit confusing
Long story made short:
In its current state PS2 Linux does not work well on modern PSTwo models.
It is possible to boot the DVD Live disc, but reliable use of the OS is not possible.
For reliable use you need one of the older consoles, with an IDE HDD interface.
(At technically aware users: I am well aware that the above is an oversimplification.)
(But some users would not understand a technically correct detailed explanation.)
Best regards: dlanor
funny dalnor got it......
no stable linux
THANKS
