    Hi,

    can someone please explain me how to change the screen resolution in x-windows to a nice, without reconfiguring?

    i have read about the xgsx command line tool but i don't understand the params :\

    so, for example i wish a resolution for my small tube at home, PAL mode. thx very much!

    @suhm

    Try modifying /etc/xmode
    it currently contains one line - "xmode NTSC,inter"

    Change this to "xmode PAL,inter"

    You can edit with "su", enter password, "vi /etc/xmode"

    Google instructions to use "vi" before doing this.

    Of course, you can easily change the kernel parameters in kernelloader without having to learn "vi" ;-)

    Here is Mega Man's excellent post (I suggest bookmarking it) describing some of the useful kernel parameters and configuration for video modes:

    @suhm

    Modify /home/adent/.fluxbox/init

    Change as noted in this section "Setting the background in a style" of this instruction wiki - Howto set the background - Fluxbox-wiki
