Sound/USB Keyboard/Mouse working on version 9+ without RTE –
The LIBSD.IRX and SDRDRV.IRX from the PS2 Game SSX work the same as the RTE versions with the renaming of both modules to lowercase, hexedit of libsd.irx as in this post:
EXCEPT change the edited locations to E60, E70, and EC0 instead of D70, D80, and DD0.
I am using the SSX modules on my version 15 PS2 with both sound and usb keyboard/mouse using my SMB PS2-Linux - ps2.nuclearfall.com
The PS2 SSX game is very common and cheap on ebay. In the US you can get it for less than $10 US which includes shipping. I am pretty satisfied with this solution as it is cheap and removes the requirement for RTE for all except DTV. I need to find out more about the SBIOS and how it works so that I can investigate the DTV issue further.
The SSX modules give users a very cheap and easy to acquire option to run PS2-Linux on version 9+ PS2s with all features (except DTV pink tint problem) with no need for the RTE.
