    Hi all,
    I appreciate if someone give me further instructions for Windows 7 in order make a successful DVD-ROM ISO from the original zipped DVD Video ISO file supplied here, since my modded PS2 console isn't able to run it yet...

The directory "blackrhino" contains long file names which are only readable on Linux or MacOS. Joilet is not supported for standard DVDs. You need to create a disc using rockridge extensions. The directory "blackrhino" is only used to install more packages or to compile from source code.

    8. If you use a modchip, you want to rebuild the disc in DVD-ROM format instead of DVD video format.
    I downloaded the supplied zipped file from Sourgefourge site, extracted ISO DVD Video image file to a folder, burned it with ImgBurn.
    But I had no success on run it. Of course, because I realised later (after reading the whole first post :-}) I am supposed to make some extra steps to make a DVD-ROM ISO file, due to the fact I have a PS2 Slim console with modchip on it (SCPH-90006 HK BIOS v2.30 with Thunder Pro II Gold). So even disabling modchip by software it I could't run PS2 Linux Live DVD properly. I only thing I got was the DVD Video, seeing the warning "This is a Linux Live system for the Sony Playstation 2. You need to start kloader.elf from the DVD to run Linux. If you used kernelloader before, you need to delete the file: mc0:/kloader/config.txt or plug out the memory card." and hearing "Groove Coverage - Million Tears" free music). Detail: I've never used kernelloader before, so I haven't that config file into mc0:/kloader folder.

    This well explained, I tried to to my extra job...

    I opened the original DVD Video Disc ISO image (ps2linux_live_v2.iso) into Magic ISO 5.4, choosing the option to load it as general CD/DVD image file instead of DVD Video image file. Only acting this way, I was able to delete AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders (the other choice into Magic ISO 5.4 -"load it as DVD Video image file" - don't let me to delete these two folders, since the both ones appears as locked).
    Right after that, I clicked on File->Settings to check the ISO file system settings:
    - CD File System -> ISO 9660, Rock Ridge and UDF (Universal Disk Format) checked;
    - File / Directory names length -> ISO 9660:1992 v2 (Max. of 207)
    Then I burned with ImgBurn, but my test on console was unsuccessful too... PS2 Browser sometimes doesn't recognize this disc ("unknown format"), sometimes isn't able to load it ("reading disc..." forever or following by "disc cannot be read"):-(

    Doctorxyz , i got it to work easier by mounting the iso with Daemon Tools, copied all the files to desktop, removed AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS , then in IMGBURN i did CREATE IMAGE FILE FROM FILES/FOLDERS , then burned that image file created . I hope it's not your modchip interfering again, i know it's the best out there but eats up almost all PS2 RAM ( read that in the OPL thread )

    Yes, I hope you're right on your assumptions... So I'll try your approach ASAP. Thanks a lot. ;-)

    Thank you Mega man that you created this LiveDVD ver2.
    I really like it and it is awesome.
    Especially thanks for Transmission and Pidgin.
    Would be nice if next version of LiveDVD could have also GIMP and other usefull software,just cant wait for it !
    You know Megamen I like to try different things each time,
    I really like Fluxbox and it is great to use,but I also heard that there is Windowmaker Desktop Environment out there.
    I have ps2 slim and cant install it as package and even didnt configure out yet how to
    set up smb share for Linux, But very much want to try it and
    very sure that majority of ps2 users also...
    Mega man I know that there is for example from Canonical 4 different distributions of Linux with the same Kernel but different Desktop Environments.(Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu.)
    Why cant ps2 users have the same choice?

    I mean could you make two versions of BlackRhino , one version with Fluxbox, and another with Windowmaker?
    Please...Please...Please..
    I think people should also have the ability to use another version even if it is a little bit slower.
    It would be so nice to have two versions of Linux for ps2 , and also it would be interesting to see
    which version would people to download the most.
    If it could be issued today, I would not sleep waiting when it will be downloaded and recorded to DVD ver3.

    I've rebuild the ISO using UltraISO (removing "AUDIO" & "VIDEO" folders), burned a new DVD and put into my PS2, boot it without FMCB, because I already have modchip installed.

    The same problem still. After "copying files and start..." message appear on screen, PS2 gets lost it's video signal - as if I had removed video component cable from LCD - and stay for minutes....never get back again.

    Unfortunately this is happening. I really want to use PS2Linux but dont know what to do

    Okay guys, I tried all approaches here supplied and other ones (by uLE, with and without my modchip enabled). The only thing I got was the following attached message error: "Failed to load module ' eromdrvloader.irx'":

    Due to this fact I can't go further. Any help would be appreciated.

    @SkyNet: GIMP should Be startable if you enter gimp in the xterm. To get the graphical GUIs from Ubunutu working, we need first to compile a newer GCC version, which is currently not available.

    @Germanno: You should check if you can disable your mod chip and retry the first disc.

    @doctorxyz: It should be possible to ignore this message (press CROSS), because your mod chip will enable DVD access. You can disable the module eromdrvloader.irx in the configuration. Then it is not used when starting Linux. Just try to start Linux with the first menu entry.

    Megaman I entered gimp in xterm and it shows only picture of gimp starting,but program itself
    doesnt work. Probably that is because I dont have hdd in my ps2, though I have swap partion on my flash-drive activated(swapdevice=/dev/sda2).

    Megamen you did not understand me at all.
    I did not say that you should create PlayStation 2 Linux with Ubuntu Desktop Environment.
    It was only comparison , I just said that for Personal Computer exist Linux from Canonical. It has 4 versions,called Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Edubuntu.
    Those 4 versions have the same kernel 2.6.32-1 but have different Desktop Environments(GNOME, KDE, XFCE,Gnome Nanny).

    Now lets forget about Canonical and Ubuntu.

    I know that in LiveDVD version 1 and 2 , we have Fluxbox as Desktop Environment.
    But I heard and know that “WindowMaker” Desktop Environment exist for PlayStation2 and can be
    used with PlayStation2.
    Please look at the pictures I submitted .
    So my question is:

    Why cant we have two version of LiveDVD which will have the same kernel 2.14.17 but different Desktop Environments(Fluxbox, Mindowmaker) ?
    1.First version of LiveDVD with Fluxbox as Desktop environment;
    2.Second version of LiveDVD with WindowMaker as Desktop environment.

    I am sure 100% that PlayStation2 users would be very happy to try Black Rhino LiveDVD with WindowMaker as Desktop Environment.

    I know that Windowmaker exist as package to install for ps2 but I have slim version of ps2, so I cant try it. That is why I thought that it would be very nice if at sourceforge we could have the ability to download whether LiveDVD with Windowmaker or with Fluxbox.

    Please Megaman could you compile next version of LiveDVD containing of two editions, one with Fluxbox and another with Windowmaker?

    Please....
