It is possible that it auto-launches, if you have a modchip which ignores the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS-Folders and simply set the MechaCon/Disc-Type to be 'PS2-DVD'.

Still, I'm not sure if kloader might recognize the disc as beeing DVD-Video/Fake-DVD.

Anywho, I'll get on w/ booting the Kloader somehow and no doubt that'll work, as I tried booting the Kloader actually in my efforts to boot the DVD, and the Kloader booted no sweat, so again I doubt it's the LCD, phew.
Atleast one good sign, it is not your TV.

So for "unmodded" PS2's, does this still require someway of booting an .ELF file via say AR Max EVO etc.? I have FMCB, but for those who don't.?
Yes, it requires (currently) to start the kloader.ELF by some way and from somewhere else, than CD/DVD.

On a hard-modded PS2, it should atleast be possible to create a Live-DVD by just removing the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS-Folders from the image, before burning.

Im having a weird problem now. I accedentialy formatted my harddrive and I then formatted it all the way. After that, I try to run kloader, that boots just fine from mc00, but it seems that it won't read the disc. Ulaunch elf used to auto detect the disc as, a dvd video disc but now reads as ???. So now I can't get the live dvd to even boot because it doesn't read the disc. I have experianced slow load times, but when I play an original ps2 game it reads the disc fine. It has troubles booting to ps1 mode I noticed but it works when it wants to. The last ps1 game I tried to run was Spyro 1 and it took forever to load. When it did it only got through maybe two or three of the first loading sequences and then took forever. I just rebooted. Now Sometime down the road I decided to run an esr patched game that runs fine, but now it won't boot. It will say unknown media in drive. The disc is new and never scratched either. If it helps I have a scph-39001.

EDIT: Well, After I opened my ps2 and carefully unscrewed the 4 screw's holding the cdrom tray in place I discovered a bright blue dust ball just about where the gear shaft was. I think it was lint. But anyhow, I used a cue tip to clean alot of dust off the 1st lens. Now it works perfectly.

Would I need to mount the DISC.BIN on an flash card? Then boot kloader? If so what is the command to mount the DISC.BIN and where do I put the command? In the config.txt?

EDIT: Succes! Just put in cdrom=/dev/sda1 newroot=/cdrom/DISC.BIN in my config.txt on the kernalparameter line. Now I'm just having troubles getting it on the internet. Does this run off a ps2linux.cfg also and how can I configure the internet settings for my DNS router.

EDIT: YAY. Without doing much I just edited my /etc/network/interfaces files and the /etc/resolv.conf. Your site is awsome and I thank everyone even if u didn't help me .

Although I figured out that the resolv.conf keeps changing back to another ip. Is there a way to make that not do that anymore after it has been copied to the harddrive?
I'm stuck here. I keep getting:
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
    Boot failed, running bash...

Is the format wrong for my USB stick? It's all FAT 32.

When are you getting it - at what point of what. What are you trying to do? Did you specified the filesystem type? Are you sure that sda1 is the FAT32 partition? Is that the only partition on the memory stick? When it drops to bash try: "mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /cdrom" "ls /cdrom" What is the output of the second command?

In all my tests with PS2 Slim and the USB setup of PS2-Linux as you have it here, it would hang up easily and have problems with file writes. However, you can try selecting "Run command" and entering "adie /etc/network/interfaces" to setup the network interface, and after saving/exiting, enter "adie /etc/resolv.conf" to set your name server ip address. I am interested if you do have it running stable for an hour or more.

I don't have the BB navigator, but this should work. In fact it uses the same kernel.

I can't remember if I put smb on the disc. In general it should be possible with PS2 Linux.

    @alvarosnk1978

I gave you slightly wrong instructions, just run the command "adie" (all lowercase) without the extra filepath/filename part. Then use the adie file editor interface to select and edit the /etc/network/interfaces file.

Either way, this is not terribly useful since the USB version does not work on Slim PSTwo. Since your DVD drive doesn't work, the best option (LiveDVD by Mega Man) will not work. This leaves SMB PS2-Linux (which boots and runs PS2-Linux over the network from a SMB share). It may be difficult for novice Linux users to install and use however.
