"Playstation 2" logo screen is handled by an module of the ROM called "PS2LOGO" which is used when you start discs. For stuff from the HDD the DNASLOAD KELF file contains an replacement for the PS2LOGO module hard linked. It will play the sound and display the "Playstation 2" logo it finds on the RSA BSAFE encrypted file (which contains the HDD game ELF along with the logo an IORP for the game)

So, making it work that way for FMCB would make it illegal.

i'm sorry but maybe i'm explaining myself quite bad (english is not my native language)

but what i meant was, if i can somehow display the sony bootscreen/animation+load an elf from memory card after it
(in my case the hacked hdd-osd) so it looks like on jap/ntsc-u/c systems
which boots after the sony boot screen into the hdd-osd

so far i'm doing it via freemcboot, configured to auto boot the hacked hdd-osd from memorycard, but it dosent allow me to see the sony bootscreen.
it goes from the freemcboot splash screen right into the hdd-osd(no sony boot screen). so now my question is, is there a way to display the sony bootscreen in between? 'cause looking at a black screen while loading sucks ^^
if i need to inject a different loader into freemcboot, no problem :o

edit: maybe i should post that in the freemcboot forum :/

That would prevent unwanted display of the logo, but richi902 wanted to do the reverse.
He wanted to display the Sony logo, just as for Sony software, even when launching some homebrew.

I can't understand why he would want something that silly, except to make it appear as if some homebrew was really Sony software sanctioned by them for use on the PS2.

And that kind of use of registered trademarks etc is illegal, just like l_oliveira stated, even if the display of that trademark was to be made by new code which is not copyrighted by Sony (like the current bios methods are). Even then such use of the trademark would still be illegal.

Using it the way we already do is perfectly legal however, as we only use it in the way that Sony intended and themselves designed it to be used.

    Best regards: dlanor

For me it looks like he has the same setting like me. I don't see the Sony logo.

I see FMCB logo after that it goes to CD/DVD screen to prevent autobooting Disc.

Setting "Skip Sony logo" to off he should atleast see the Sony logo like he wanted. Starting BB navigator is another thing...

Removing FMCB stuff and make it look like made by Sony is bullshit and illegal as both l_oliviera and you have stated. I like to see FMCB screen so im sure that it works !

    hi,

i have the settings that it should not skip the sony logo on boot, but it still dose. if i do not load an elf on system start it dose display it just normal and boots into fmcb(hacked-osd). so it's still legal to display it that way?
is it 'cause fmcb still uses the original osd, just modifeid a bit?

that just remembers me of some story with sega and the bootscreen of the meadrive which later models had to prevent publishers from using unauthorized devkits/dev software and produce games wihtout license.

but thanks for the help anyway. why did sony never release the hdd in europe ...lol that would eliminate my problems :/

    .richard

edit:btw. i don't care about bb-navigator anymore realy, as long as no one can hack the real kernelloader from it(osdboot.elf). i read that 0.10, 0.20 arent that picky about console region.
    but whatever.
