It has been a very long time since I've used a non-BlackRhino distro. I think that you have to edit the configuration file for the name of the kernel and put the kernel file in the MC0:/BWLINUX folder.

1. Answer to: How to install Sony Linux with kernelloader.
In theory it is possible to select the vmlinux.ker and initrd.ins from the cdfs:/boot/ directory in kernelloader as startup files. The problem is that the Linux installer doesn't detect the disc. So you can't install it automatically.
2. Answer to last question:
After installation you don't need the disc 1. You can start kernelloader and select the vmlinux file. Before you can start you need to edit the kernel parameter and add:
You need to check which number is behind /dev/hda. You can copy the number from the pl2boot.cnf file.Code:root=/dev/hda2
i just bought disk1 off ebay and i tried to copy sbios from rte copy menu in kloader i dont know whether it has copied sbios or not because when i used component cables i still got that pink tint.
There are two ways to get maximum support (2. is recommended):
1. To get the RTE SBIOS you need to disable the TGE SBIOS in the kernelloader menu. You need also to deactivate the CDVD SBIOS calls by selecting default for RTE (otherwise it will hang when trying to start Linux). You need also to select the RTE modules (mc0) and disable the rom0 versions ("dmarelay.irx", "libsd.irx", "mcman.irx", "mcserv.irx", "padman.irx", "sdrdrv.irx", "sio2man.irx",). Don't use "iopintr.irx" from RTE, because this will break USB support. DVDs and CDs can't be accessed by this method.
2. Get new kernelloader version from the "pink" thread or wait until I release the next version 2.2 (I am currently working at the release). You can also enable "dmarelay.irx", "libsd.irx" and "sdrdrv.irx" from mc0 to get DMA support and Sound support. DVDs and CDs can be accessed when using this method. DVD and DVD-R video is readable.
thanks a lot megaman the pink problem is gone
but still i get this message eth0: dma bind error 1 use PIO
even after enabling mco dmarealy.irx
The Linux 2.4.17 is from the BB Navigator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlaySta...band_Navigator). This uses a different RPC interface for the DMA transfer. The Linux 2.2 kernels from Sony and Blackrhino use the old RPC interface. There are 3 ways to get this working:
1. Someone change the Linux 2.4.17 to support the old DMA interface. This wasn't my highest priority, because network and hard disc was working fast enough without it.
2. You use the old Linux 2.2 kernel.
3. You get somewhere the BB Navigator disc and use dmarelay.irx from this. I never got a disc of it. So I never tested if this works.
im not able to get netowrk working with your ps2 linux intaller 0.8 deba5er everytime i start dillo i get error dns....

Use the File Editor (adie) from the menu to edit /etc/resolv.conf and correct the IP address to be the same as your name server.
