Google Bans Third Party Recording for Youtube
Google Bans Third Party Recording for Youtube –
I'm not sure if ps2 linux users will be affected if this is true or not but I figured I would share what I have heard. As the title states, Google is trying to ban third party recording for youtube. If I am not mistaken, if this actually happens, ps2linux users wont be able to use the youtube downloader included with new live dvd 3 released because they could further update youtube scripts so disallow downloading of youtube videos.
Here is the petition I have found:
Petition | .@Youtube & @GoogleDE : Allow third party recording tools for YouTube #FreedomOnYoutube | Change.org
The downloader in the Live DVD is still working. It is used to play the YouTube videos. It stores the data only as a side effect. If Google restricts third parties, we need first party support. Google then needs to deliver a player for the PS2.
I use gpodder for podcast downloading and they had to change the youtube py script, but afterwards everything works fine again.
TXs for the hint.
