Hi everyone. Lately I browsed the internet and found such thing it was called

    " PS2_LINUX_RTE_CD_1_0_Install_BlackRhino_by_CERF4".

I have seen the name Black Rhino and thought to myself that it is famous Black Rhino which everyone uses, but then I realized that there is "CERF4" which I know nothing about.

So the reason I do write here is because I want people to help me understand
    what I have found.

I started to use ps2 not really long time ago so I know not very much about
    ps2s Linux history.

Can someone explain me where this distro comes from ?

    And what means "CERF4"?

In the past I read about this DVD. It is the RTE disc from Sony's Linux Toolkit for PS2. The disc is extended by the BlackRhino distribution. It seems to include an installer for BlackRhino. The disc can only be used by modchip owners. I don't have a modchip, so I never tested this and I don't have this disc.
It seems that this disc is illegal, because the disc was never sold in this way. You can get this disc only from P2P networks.
We asked Sony to provide stuff of RTE for free download, maybe the disc will become legal.

Megaman but I have still questions,

do not know whether you know the answers, but if you know, please could you answer me :

    1. Who or what is " CERF4" ? Is It a hacker? Or what Is It ?

    2. Was this disc issued by sony as demodisc to install "BlackRhino" over Linux Kit installation (because we all know that at the beginning was Linux Kit and only then , when was opened http://www.ps2linux.com , appeared BlackRhino on the scene )
or how this disk actually was created,
    by whom and why ?

    3.Actually the most interesting question:

Do you think will Sony issue RTE ?
    Last Time I visited http://www.playstation-linux.com
and saw funny picture there of penguin go away.
There was said that they will issue an archive at the end of July
but already today is half of September past and we have no RTE and no any archive issued. Funny how Sony treats its customers.

And also funny to hear that Sony does not want to issue RTE.
What Sony needs RTE now for if they closed web-site and any development for ps2 Linux?
Why Sony can not make people happy and issue RTE.

    @Skynet

I am not certain about the origin, but it existed before kernelloader as a RTE/Blackrhino iso. No more to discuss here as this would appear to be warez because it has the RTE.

Do you think will Sony issue RTE ?
As a business Sony is not likely to do anything that will not only not give them a profit but may increase risk to the current value of their assets through the ability of Linux to do things which may not have been envisioned by the engineers. It is a shame for people like me who merely wanted to add some multimedia functions to the PS2 and tinker. Fortunately for me, Mega Man developed kernelloader as an alternative and free method of running Linux on the PS2. At this point it is FAR SUPERIOR to the RTE in many ways, foremost that for all of the complaints about lack of good USB function on PSTwo Slim, the RTE NEVER SUPPORTED THE SLIM but kernelloader does. So for Slim users, you have a mostly working PS2-Linux versus none at all. Pretty good deal I think. Yes, it would have been nice to have Sony release the RTE on their last generation console, but even though we asked, I never really expected them to do it. I'm just happy that Sony gave us the chance to see what could be done so that it could be replicated by someone with enough skills (Mega Man).
