Well i don't know about ps2 linux much, but just wanted to tell you that it is now possible for ps2 to output native 1080p over component. Visit GSM thread (you might have to go a few pages back) for more info.
Sorry, but I can't find this here in ps2linux subforums. Could you be more specific or write down a link?

PS2-Linux does not presently support 1080p, but does attempt to support 720p and 1080i. Presently, at least on Blackrhino, 720p displays 1024x720 instead of 1280x720 and 1080i displays with severe ghosting. In PS2-Linux (Blackrhino-based) the graphics are controlled by the Xgsx program. The setcrtmode (text modes) work fine for both 720p and 1080i.
