Why Xploder HDTV is not 100% compatible with ESR?
Why Xploder HDTV is not 100% compatible with ESR? –

I just found some games working with Xploder HDTV and SWAP MAGIC but the same games booted through ESR were not working (just hangs up at game loading screen).
I don't get the point why is this happening, what is the problem with ESR???
PS, games just boot fine with ESR without Xploder HDTV so the problem is not the game disc.

Heck, I have no Idea, I didn't code that Xploder tool... HINT: Ask the one that created Xploder HDTV player.

Read what you wrote in post scriptum. It's not a problem of ESR, it's a problem of Xploder. Without it ESR works just fine, and when Xploder interferes, some games loose compatibility. For me that's obvious and it's not my responsibility. It's just that Xploder wasn't programmed to be working this way. Plus, always chaining applications that do any kind of patching, hooking anything is much more prone to errors.

Sorry i did not sleep today...
anyway its a pitty we cant use xploder hdtv player with esr
i tried to decompile hdtv just to check how it is made but i dont understand a thing of the assembly code so i cant do anything.
is there a way to embed the hdtv player with esr to make it part of the load process?
is there a way to implement the hdtv code in another app and embed it with esr?
EDIT: I dont know if i am saying something correct, i think now i understand your words correctly, the problem is xploder hdtv so the thing we have to do is create a hdtv patcher to make it working with ESR isn't it? (like HDL patcher for example)

Adding such runtime patching to ESR wouldn't be very hard but that's not the priority at the time (especially that I don't use it... really, PS2 games look much better on CRT TVs, IMO... unless there would be native 720/1080 resolution used by the games, which it simply couldn't handle at good speeds, not to mention the funny low Vram size, which would make the higher native modes simply impossible at all... upscaling also gives horrible results - unless you use it with small 15'' monitor, then it's acceptable, but for me if something is smaller than 30'' is not good for gaming, as I wouldn't be able to sit comfortable in my chair while playing).
Xploder HDTV also causes some problems with hdloader (for games that normally would work with it if launched from cd/dvd or using hdl without xploder).

Yeah you are right, then there is some crappy code inside Xploder HDTV hah! :P
About the native HD in ps2 there are 2 or 3 games that use that, like GT4 but i didnt try those games. I just use it because my TV is HDReady and games looks very worse, but games compatible with Xploder 720p mode look pretty with it, really. At least a lot sharper and cleaner than the upscaling, thats the reason i and some people use it, we cant have 3 TVs of all kinds to play with different gaming systems.
Even if its not your priority at the time i will have to white for that, but ocasionally someone will start to develop some patch or cracked version of hdtv so it works with hdl or esr.

As for the original conflict between Xploder and ESR, I think it must have lain in conflicting use of either some system vector or some system RAM, or possibly both.

I use Free McBOOT with ESR. I prefer the simplicity of XPloder HDTV player over GSM. But the issue that it doesn't work with ESR is a big deal killer for me. Too bad it doesn't work wth ESR.

I don't get it, Jay Jay give GSM Selector a try and if you're not sure how to use it, ask. It's by far and away the best video mode solution for PS2, I use it on the regular. Yeah it's not as straight forward as Xploder but it has far more options. I've found xploder to be useless in comparison.

Yep, slowly but surely I am getting a bit used to GSM. Love that now I can playback some PAL games on my NTSC console. Gotta love that one for sure.
