Hey Guys, Im just wondering what do I patch with esr for my burnt game? Is it the .iso of the game?
Yes,you need to patch the game image(ISO)
Thanks alot, I also have one more question. How come when I copy the game with DVD Decryptor and try to save the iso file onto my hard drive, it says the file is over nine gigabytes! How will I fit that onto a cd??
P.S When i mean save .iso file, I meen the file you have to save when you click, mode->iso->read
If you get a file that large (any size over 4.37 GB), then the game must be a dual layer type (like "Rogue Galaxy" or "Xenosaga Ep.1 - Der Wille zur Macht"), and will require special patching as well as a DL disc for burning. Fitting it onto a CD is obviously impossible as the maximum space on a CD is appx 700MB.
Only games designed for use on CD, or games shrunk and patched for conversion to CD can be burned to a CD disc. Most PS2 games require normal DVD-R/DVD+R discs, and only a few games require dual-layer discs (which often work horribly bad as game backups due to disc read problems).
You should also be aware that ISO files larger than 2GB can not be safely stored on all types of filesystems, so never try to backup such ISO files to a drive with FAT32 filesystem, as that is unable to store so large files. You'd have to split them up somehow (can be done by RAR packers).

Thanks dlanor, yea its my game of God of War 2. I ment dvd not cd. Sorry. Also could you tell me about the RAR packers. What they are, what they do, and how you use them to pack and unpack?
Many Thanks![]()
I don't have that game myself (not my cup of tea) but all google hits agree that this is indeed a dual-layer game. And this could mean trouble as most PS2 and PSTwo consoles have trouble reading burned DL discs. I have three consoles at home myself (plus two out on loan) which are all incapable of reliably running any DL backups, even when burned to top quality Verbatim media.
One of them occasionally boots the backups, but with stutters and glitches which clearly show that the laser is having trouble reading the disc, which probably means that the CDVD driver is frantically hunting for a working laser intensity, which in itself will shorten the laser lifetime.
Summary: Unless it reads glitch-free such a backup is a threat to the laser !!!

Thanks alot dlanor, you are one of the most helpfull people on this site. I only wish I could find an updated TOC list for newer games, as i am having trouble with finding them for games such as The Simpsons game and Star Wars Republic Heroes.

question how do you patch a game? and what do you use as a patcher? where can i find it? is it a program that you use to patch the game before burning?
All you had to do was just go back one thread and read the ESR Thread..
But Here is a simple plan...:
Here is the game .ISO patcher.
http://psx-scene.com/forums/attachme...gui-v0-24a-rar
1. Put your original game in PC DVD drive and make image of it. Using IMGBurn
2. Patch it. Using ESR GUi Patcher, it is a simple .exe program.
3. Burn it. Using IMGBurn, auto burn speed is fine, on good quality media.
4. Put it in your PS2 and launch ESR (direct DVD version).
5. That's it!
