Using Codebreaker with ESR
Using Codebreaker with ESR –
02-01-2009,11:00 AM
I recently gained interest in using codebreaker, and I did a little research (floated around the forums here too), but I'm in a little need of help.
Now, the one tutorial that is on this site isn't exactly the most comprehensive or helpful for me. I searched on Google for a cracked 9.2 Codebreaker ELF and found several versions. Out of 5, I have gotten one to actually load up from my USB. I can use it like it was Codebreaker itself, but when it asks me to put my (burned and ESR patched) disc into the drive and continue, it would state that it could not find a disc. This has become frustrating as I am at a loss what to do.
Note: I do not use or utilize HDL (as I have no harddrive to make it possible for me to use it), nor did I patch ANY of the ELFs I've obtained (the patcher that I got from this site made it confusing as to whether or not I would be doing it right in the first place).

you just need to patch the codebreaker to load ESR instead of booting from the dvd-tray.
ill see if i can find some info for ya
*EDIT*
http://www.console-exploits.com/foru...ad.php?t=12448
info there
to load esr, you should use
mc0:/BOOT/ESR.ELF
as a boot path
*note*
seems that patcher's paths are preset and wont let you edit the them, however you could edit the ELF with a hex editor.. there is info on that site that tells you how to do all that.
if you dont want to do that, you could just rename a copy of ESR.ELF to CB_launch.elf and put it in the BOOT folder on your memcard so you can use the preset paths.
there is an updated version of the patcher somewhere which will let you choose the path's while patching, however i am too tired to look for it right now.

Unfortunately, that's the exact tutorial that I'm having a problem with. I just went and got myself a new CB.ELF and downloaded their patch (that comes with the packer and unpacker). I also downloaded the checksum calculator, used it, got the required checksum for the 9.2 ELF, and that's where I'm lost completely. Whenever I try to use either the packer or the unpacker, the DOS box shows up for just a millisecond before disappearing, and doesn't do anything. And if I use the patcher (cb92hdlmod11), it would say
The file you selected to patch is not the same file intended to patch. It is possible that your file has been modified (or is already patched). Continue anyways?
I'm really lost as to what I have to do.

You have to run the unpacker/packer from a command prompt.

Could you explain how I would go about doing that?

I don't use hdloader myself, in my SCPH-90006 i use the CB10 patched, it's kind of tricky to make it work...
1) Follow the tutorial (there is no need to unpack), patch cb10 and put the cb loader at your mc0:/SYS-CONF
2) put the ESR game at the tray.
3) load uLE and run the CD10 from the pendrive, my pendrive has a led access, remove the pendrive when the led turn itself off. (or after about 3 to 4 secs)
4) soon after you see the CD menu, set the auto eject to off.
5) set the cheats and run the game.
6) you will see the fmcb logo and game will start if you have chip or after ESR.
Please note that CB is not compatible with most of the usb devices, so remove it before you start it.

So, just get the cb.ELF, patch it (no unpacking/packing necessary?), put it on a USB stick, run it, and everything will be good? What if I patched my 2mb cb.ELF and it becomes 17mb, is that a good thing (that's without any packing or unpacking)?

I was talking about CB10, no there is not necessary to unpack it since it won't unpack any way.

Please note, i was talking about CB10 and the ELF has to match the md5sum hash published at that tutorial witch means is a non-patched version, i don't have the CB9.2 or other versions to play with.
If the tutorial say that you need to unpack, patch and pack it back you do it, just CB10 doesn't need unpack, just patch it.

I recommend using a cracked CB v9.2 ELF along with my updated GSHI patcher. It offers all of the features of the cracked ELF with ffgriever's patch, and then some.
Perhaps it would be better to discuss all of this in the thread that's 100% devoted to the topic at hand?

Okay, after a few days of no response (due to a busy schedule), I tried the method of using and patching CB 10 and had a success. I'm going to try it with more games to see if it will carry through, but as of right now, it's working.
