I am glad to say that I have been successful at booting CB from a USB drive.
CH_launch.elf on memory card
CodeBreakers.elf on thumb drive
Boot into FMCB(1.8b) with disc tray open
uLaunchElf
Close disc tray
Navigate to CodeBreakers.elf on thumb drive
Start CodeBreakers.elf
Select game and cheats start game(For me it was FFXII)
ESR beta r9 splash shows up
Game starts
This sounds like a fairly normal session except for the stuff with the disc tray, which I don't see the purpose of. With everything properly configured you should be able to have the disc tray closed from power-on to the end of your session.Quote:

Your problem is probably that you have configured FMCB to prioritize disc booting, instead of booting directly into uLE, which is generally more useful (it's also what I always do).
The only drawback of this is that if you do want to boot a disc directly without seeing uLE, you have to press a button during the boot (one configured for the FASTBOOT option). But personally I always boot into uLE anyway, and then launch disc with the "MISC/PS2Disc" command of uLE which I have on a shortcut button. (NB: That command also auto-invokes ESR if the disc is an ESR-patched backup)

Ok I just started this whole softmod thing on my PS2...this is the site that I installed it from... http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/armax.php (I hope posting a link to a site is ok if not I will edit my post) ...I setup everything on my MC started to do this tut (the one we are on) found that I had no ESR direct dvd boot file so I searched on the net for it and found this.... http://ps2-project.org/ps2p/includes...php5?title=ESR it confused the heck out of me so I didnt try it but I got the file from the downloads at the top. I read this tut again and did everything that it said started up the patched CB file (not sure if it works or not) and about 4 mins of blackscreen later it starts up EXTREMELY slow (from black screen it takes about 1 min to get to full color) and stops at the point that it says "get MORE game" with a blue backround. Can anyone help me out with this. :cry: I will add more information if it is needed. Thanks in advance for the help.
P.S. Oh and I just wish to say hello to everyone cause I am (again) new here...had an account a LONG time ago and just got the net back after a few years =p again Hi LOL
this thread would be a better option for you to use codebreaker 9.x with FMCB/ESR/HDL/Open PS2 Loader/USBAdvance/HDA/etc.

NB: I've made most of these tests with CodeBreaker v10, since that is what I normally use, but I'm pretty sure it applies to all versions. The only CodeBreaker version I have that works on this SCPH-90004 console is an old CodeBreaker 7 elf which works fine with this model, and also works fine with USB drives connected, both on this and on the other slim models. (Mainly because it has no USB drivers, so it also lacks keyboard support.)
Unfortunately you never (to my knowledge) patched this version of CodeBreaker like you did the others, so this CodeBreaker version is still unable to let games be started by ESR or other game launchers, as it will insist on a normal CDVD disc boot.

ummm, not sure if this is the place, but i used the CB 9.3 elf to boot CB so i could use codes on KH2, i checked the address and everything, and it matches what codetwinks has on its site, yet i can't for the life of me get the codes to work, the game boots fine after i pick the codes, get to load the game, load my save, then nothing, black screen, just hangs, DVD is still spinning, and it works fine with no codes, if anyone could offer some assistance, that would be awesome, really wish there was a way to boot ARmax and use codes via that, but so far no luck there either.
I have managed to get the get the codebreaker to work but when i use esr it stays on a pink screen, what do i do to fix that problem, the game i am using is kingdom hearts 2 final mix +
