Running ESR from 007 Agent Under Fire?
Running ESR from 007 Agent Under Fire? –
I have two PS2 slims: a 90000 with the FW that disables OSDSYS updates, and a 70000 with a dead disc drive and FMCB installed. I installed FMCB by running uLaunch from a backup of 007 Agent Under Fire on the 90000 and installing to the memory card that would go into the 70000. I was wondering if I could run ESR in my 90000 by using the same method of running uLaunch from the game, except I use an ELF of ESR instead?
I want to do this so that I can save space on my USB drives and play backups of games that don't work in OPL and USBAdvance, to keep my discs from being scratched.
Well, TECHNICALLY you can. But why would you want to? I'm assuming the FMCB memory card won't boot on the 90000? As soon as ESR boots it reads whatever disc is in there and boots it. In your case, it'd be non-ESR patched Agent Under Fire. I can imagine if you're real quick at hotswapping you can pop AUF out and put in whatever burnt disc you have ESR ready, but that's both inefficient and damages your drive. If you really have no other options (chips or otherwise), then I say go for it. Have a save for the second level of AUF ready and hotswap like usual. Just...be quick to hotswap again when ESR boots. Can't confirm this will work but in theory, the game will boot whatever elf is there on the disc.

ESR loads just fine like that! I don't want to wear out my drive, so this may just be a temporary solution. Maybe if I got a new PS2 that is FMCB compatible AND has a working drive, that way I don't wear anything out. PS2's are pretty cheap nowadays, so if I saved a few bucks, I could get a refurbished one from GameStop or eBay, like I did with my 90000 when my 70000 burned out.
here is a good option for running games without DVD drive I know My 70000 is without drive too

Is how all good gaming systems came to be
Thanks, but I already have it, and I love it when I can get it to work. I was hoping to use ESR to play backups of games that don't work in OPL, like I couldn't seem to get Tomb Raider Anniversary to work, so I wanted to make an ESR disc to play it on my 90000 with a working disc drive.
007 AUF esr patched runs on ps2, but not other ESR patched disc.
