Hi. My apologies if this is found elsewhere, because if it is I admit to not being able to find it.

I wanted to backup my original Rockband 2 game. I have a PS2 Slim 79001 with Free McBoot 1.8 that has ESR on it. I can't seem to find a place that outlines the steps to back up this disc, a dual layer disc game.

As I thought I understood it, the steps go..

Write ISO to computer harddrive using software app such as DVDDecrypter.
Patch the game with ESR patch
Burn the game to reputable disc with software app such as imgburn
Turn on PS2 with disc in it, ESR takes over and you're good..

    but
Is it different for a dual-layered game?

Is there a second patch that is necessary (toxic dll..?) for dual layered discs? I can burn to a verbatim DVD+R dl disc, but is it better to condense to single layer and burn to a verbatim SL disc? I admit that in my searching, I've confused myself. Any help is appreciated.

    1. rip it with either dvd decrypter, or IMGBurn. This ensures you get both layers of the disc.
    2. Patch the ISO with Toxic Dual Layer patcher.
    3. Patch the ISO with ESR Patcher.
    4. Burn the ISO to a dual layer disc at 50% maximum disc speed. (be sure to use quality media such as Sony, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or some other top shelf media according to this link.
    5. Enjoy.

that's all there really is to it on dual layer games.

Thank you so much. One last question. After I've patched the Rockband2 file with both patches, do I burn using (example ISOBURN) the MDS file, or the ISO file? Whenever I used to burn backups to use with Swap Magic, I selected the MDS file... Any help is appreciated.

Ok Thank you Bootlegninja and amp2006. I tried burning on Memorex DL DVD +R using Imgburn, and got 3 separate errors(I only bought 3 discs), but I'm reasonably sure that it's either the media i'm burning to or my DVD burner, but thank you, I do appreciate your work.

Memorex and Maxell are mostly hit and miss for disc usage. About half the time
    they aren't any good.

    Patching: Failed!!

    What can I do?

Hi. First off let me say that I appreciate your help on this one. But I wanted to ask; has anyone officially gotten this to work for Rockband 2? I have done the following...

1.Took my original and made an iso of it using IMGBURN to my PC
2.I patched using Toxic DLL Patch
    3.I patched using ESR Patch
4.I bought Verbatim DL +R discs.
5.On IMGBURN, I burned the disc, it looks like it burned at 2.4x, which might be it's maximum. I don't think that I can burn at 50% of this, is it possible and necessary to burn slower than 2.4x?

The disc does burn, then I put the disc in my schp79001 PS2. Turn it on, and Free McBoot powers up, it asks me to choose my memory card or disc. I choose the disc, and ESR starts. It does it's flashy colors thing, then starts to boot up....

On the first disc that I burned, I got through about 10 notes in Eye of the Tiger, then it started to play odd guitar rifts, then it locked up.

On the second disc, I was awaiting a boot up of a song after choosing it on quick play, and it locked up before I could play anything.

Is there a different way to make a backup of this disc? Is this way the best, but my burner is bad possibly? I appreciate the help any way I can get it here.
    Thanks again.

4- either use DL-R or set Booktype to DVD-ROM
    5- always burn at mid.speed

Thanks. So on Imgburn, you can set to burn on midspeed? I see the dropdown on the title page to change write speed, so burn at 1x?I've tried that in the past and it always kicks it back up. Is there somewhere else to do it?

I admit to not understanding the change book type. I have an HP DVD Writer 840b HJ86. Which of these tabs is for me?
