Problems installing ESR on memor32

hey when i used this tutorial
http://ps2-project.org/ps2p/includes...php5?title=ESR
and at the end when it said to rename esr to BOOT.ELF and hold down R1, well i did that but all it came up was memento logo... so whats the problem here? did i do something wrong

Are you holding R1 down before you start the PS2

Check the troubleshooting steps at the bottom of that tutorial
