problems with esr and fmcb ! pls help

Hey ...i'm kind of noob in the ps2 moding scene...and i have a few questions..

1.i installed fmcb v1.8 for a friend...and he says that the games crash after a while. the games that crashed were fifa 10, jak 2, jak 3.console version 70004/75004(i don't really remember). what may be the problem? could it be the memory card? (i played the same dvd-s on my phat ps2 with fmcb 1.8 and they worke great)

2.sms doesn't work with thumb drives (on the console mentioned above)

3.are there other (better) methods of playing backup games on the ps2? I'm interested in homebrews, not modchip or swapmagic.

4.if i install fmcb on an unoficial memory card 64mb(bought from ebay for about 5$)...can problems apear?

1. what do you exactly mean by saying that games crash? elaborate more. someone else with a good in depth knowledge fmcb can answer that.

2. you will need to manually configure the usb flash drive auto-detect in sms by pressing start (on controller) to access the configuration menu.

3. a softmod is the best way to go and fmcb is just it. there are various game loaders. the best game loader is HDloader (HDL) which allows you to play games directly from an internal IDE hard drive housed inside a phat PS2. esr is the best for disc CDVDs and OPL (open PS2 loader) is multi-type game loader (usb flash drive, usb hdd, via a home networked PS2).

4. chinese cloned memory cards suck. don't buy them. your game data can easily become corrupted.

he says the game simply freezes after a while...and he says that while playing the original dvd(which he cloned) it doesn't freeze...

i also have another simple question.
if i put a mmc with fmcb installed on a 9000x with date code 8c/8d (on wich fmcb doesn't work) ...does anithing bad happen? (break the console or the mmc)

I'm willing to bet your problems lie in the games.

1. Were they downloaded or ripped from the orignals?
2. If ripped, what program did you use?
3. Burn speed?
4. What quality of media?

I had this problem too, if you have the latest esr with the GUI, check the first and second options so it does not crash. When I ran Jak3, the game kept freezing in certain cutscenes.

p.s. the options are-
Disable ESR after first IOP reset and sync-something mode

but now my "friend" (which has more ps2 consoles) says he broke a slim ps2 with my card with fmcb. Is this possible?
I have a phat ps2 and fmcb and esr work fine . Does fmcb and esr work worse on slim ps2s? (less compatible games, crashes,freezes, or whatever..)

there is no way fmcb could "break" a ps2,since its just a bunch of data(so to speak, and i dont mean it in an offensive way) in the memory card. How did your friend says fmcb "broke" his ps2? Its not that fmcb and ESR work worse on slims(i've tested it on a slim, works fine), i guess its more of a laser issue. Bottom line, something else broke your "friend's" ps2, nit fmcb.
