Problem running backups
Ihave a problem running my backups on my FMCB modded PS2.
I took my NASCAR 09 and took an ISO off of it and then opened ESR Patcher and (following a video on youtube) clicked "unpatch" followed by "patch".
Then I went to my Active@ ISO Burner and burned the ISO onto a DVD on 4x speed (again following video).
Then I put it into my PS2 and a white screen comes up and I click run cd/dvd or something like that.
Then it flashes green, pink, blue, and white.
Then it launches the game, but heres the problem, on the screen its a scrolling screen of the ads of the game (like a movie in the 50s lol) and yes I can navigate through the screens.
I have tried this about 4 times and still have the same problem.
The three most likely problems are:
1) you have a bad rip of your game disc causing a faulty ISO file
2) you chose a bad/damaged disc to burn it to
3) you ended up with a bad burn
You could test the ISO in an emulator, if you have one. If it refuses to emulate properly, then there's your answer; the ISO is bad and you need to rip the disc again. In any case, when you're sure you have a good ISO, try patching and burning it again. Make sure you tell your burning software that you want to actually make a game disc rather than simply store the ISO on the disc as a discrete file (you seem to understand this already, but it's worth mentioning). Also, *burn it at the slowest available speed*. That is particularly important. Slow speed burns are less likely to result in errors that give you a bad burn. If your burning software can go slower than 4x, then do that.
Ok I downloaded the PCSX2 PS2 emulator and I have another question..

Could you tell me what the BIOs is and also how do I get it?
To get your BIOS the legal way, you'd need to dump it yourself from your PS2. You're gonna need this executable (pcsx2. net/files/25904). Run it with uLaunchELF with an USB drive attached to your PS2. Here's an easy tut to follow: youtube. com/watch?v=n3AVqzYcqSw
Now, you can find already dumped BIOS on the internet but that's considered piracy for whatever reason.
Ok thx I will try it after work
Ok I tried running it with the emulator and it succeded and then I burned it again and it works!
You should never, ever need to unpatch an ISO ripped from an original disc before patching it.

Must have been a fluke then, I'm guessing your original burn was "bad" as far as the PS2 is concerned (back in the days before FMCB, I had many a disc burn "bad" that wouldn't read on the PS2, but that would read fine in my PC's drive).
