EDIT NVM i found out how to do it
however, it seems lil complicated for my younger brother to use for every game.
will there soon be a patch that will allow the game to start by just inserting the disc?

There is. So either:
1. Use ESR for autoboot, or
2. Put FMCB with ESR as DVDPLAYER instead of OSDSYS replacement.
i tried to find out how to do that. but no luck
can u give me lil more details on how to change the settings?
http://www.aoinamida.com/fmcbesr/esrdvdplayer.html
give that a try it should let you do what u want if im correct.
I didn't think it worked in v1.6 it always loads back to osdsys or browser for me.
Since FMCB doesn't auto-detect/load ESR patched games, you might be better off with my guide, however I have not tested how well it works with 1.6 so 1.5 might give the best results, although if you set the configuration to autoload ESR in 1.6 and change the folder FMCB installs to to B?EXEC-DVDPLAYER like in my guide, I think it should work.
All you do is rename the ESR elf to BOOT.ELF. Then it autoboots! (I'm trying to keep this simple).
So you put the patched PS2 disc in, turn on PS2 and it runs the game like normal, all by itself.
Since when did FMCB autoboot mc?:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF?
I don't want it to autoboot ESR all the time I just want it load when I insert a DVD-V like it did in 1.5 as B?EXEC-DVDPLAYER/dvdplayer.elf eg: osdmain.elf embedded with esr renamed as dvdplayer.elf.
An the option of having ESR determine a regular dvd game or dvd-v and loading the appropriate procedure seems daft as it all takes extra time which isn't needed "read the above" nobody uses there ps2 as a dvd player so there's no need to implement reading between a patched dvd-v backup or normal dvd-v either when you can just remove the memory card to play a normal dvd if you must the only benefit v1.6 has over v1.5 is it has a menu launcher and now the B?EXEC-DVDPLAYER/dvdplayer.elf update feature is gone for auto-booting ESR backups
Update:
I've found that turning off the "Skip Sony Logo" restores the update dvd player software with elf "dvdplayer.elf " option as well loading PS1 games without going into OSDSYS menu screen.
It seems the "Skip Sony Logo" option is linked to both these things as well as skipping the PlayStation2 logo screen and PS2 intro swirly.
