Hi guys,
I just download the ESR disc patcher GUI, and I tried to patch the games and burn the iso, but the games doesn't work load.
Btw: my ps2 is a slime v16.
Do I need a FMCB in order for the patched games by ESR to work?
I only see the directions said: "patch the ISO with ESR, burn the ISO to DVD, and load into the PS2."
Can I use just ESR to patch the games to work without a modchip or a swap disc?

Where did you get your game .ISO's?
What game .ISO's are you trying?
Both of the questions are useless, unless you have an exploit on your PS2.
Meaning FMCB with ESR, or Swap Method on your PS2...

on by which app you burned the game and on which speed and on which brand of dvds

My backup game is "Marvel _Ultimate Allince 2" ntsc and I'm using Alcohol 120% latest version to burn with TDK DVD+R on a 4x.
What's the best app to burn the ISO, (DVD Decrypter or Imgburn or something else)?
As a matter of fact it is possible to use ESR on an unmodded console even without FMCB, provided that you have some other way of booting homebrews on that console.
I recently bought an unmodded SCPH-90004 console with bios v2.30 (making FMCB use impossible) and for this console I use a SwapMagic CD to boot into uLE (using two steps, so the final launch path is made Dev1 compatible, using mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF).
Then I can use uLE to launch ESR after replacing the boot disc with an ESR-patched game backup or homebrew disc.
This works fine either by explicitly launching ESR through menu shortcut or FileBrowser, or by the implicit launch method using the MISC/PS2Disc command of uLE. So from uLE the ESR launching works exactly as it would after a boot by FMCB.
Even so, I find it impractical to constantly have to replace the disc in tray, and regardless of the boot method it is more convenient to run backup games from USB or from a PC over LAN, using the 'Open PS2 Loader'. This way I can always keep the SwapMagic disc in tray, regardless of the game or homebrew to be used. (Except for a few incompatible or speed-demanding games.)

HI i'm using FMCB with the ESR patch but everytime i burn a ISO game it shows in black & white and the screen is not centered? wat could be the problem?
It means you are NTSC and the game you have is PAL or vise versa. Where did you buy the game?Quote:

Or for me I have an HDTV and use PS2 Component cables. Some people still have trouble on their HDTV with centering, so if you go to sksapps.com, there is a patch that will work for fixing the position and color.
I buy PAL games either on Ebay , amazon for the simple fact there are some games I wanted that are only released in Europe, or the NTSC version was too hard too find or too much money.
I too have the same SCPH-90001 with bios 230, and run the same setup as dlanor. I prefer though also to just run the games from PC from the LAN on that one. It is easier to just leave the disc in.
i'm getting just a long lasting pink/purple screen, and then it stays there or changes to black screen. my game backup never loads.
i've burned my backup on dvd-r, and i patched it through the esr patcher before burning it. what might be the problem? thanks,
