Is it the game or the laser with ESR/FMCB?
Is it the game or the laser with ESR/FMCB? –

Recently I was playing Final Fantasy XII (on old generic media) with the old Gameshark/Neo2.2 method, well my GS2 got to where it would hardly read, however the game would play everytime I got GS2 to load, it got annoying so I started reading back in the PS2 scene regarding modding. I found the FMCB method and reburned FFXII on Sony media with ESR. Now it will go show the ESR logo and then the flashing colors. If I have no controller plugged in, FFXII will tell me to insert a controller, however after that the screen just stays black. If I have no controller plugged in, all I get is a black screen. Kingdom Hearts 2 also has just a black screen all the time regardless. I have tried this on 2 different v4 PS2's and the same result every time.
I have read on the compatibility list that both games are compatible.
I have used ESR beta r9 and FMCB 1.5.
Please help me out.
Thanks

I used this tutorial: http://www.aoinamida.com/fmcbesr/esrdvdplayer.html and in the end I did not have a BOOT1.ELF or a BOOT2.ELF, just the BOOT.ELF
Please help me out.
Thanks

I understand you want an answer, but please don't continue creating threads on this all over the forums.
Posting this all over the place will not get you an answer any quicker.

Yeah sorry about that, in the first place i posted it I realize it was the wrong forum, so I tried to delete my original post and could not find how to do it. I would have just posted it here if I knew about it.
But does anyone know an answer?
Let me know
Edit: I just tried it with ESR beta r9a and the same results.
I am getting to the ESR screen then the flashing lights, so I am thinking that the install was good, but why would the regular ISO boot from Gameshark, but the ESR will not boot? And on 2 different machines??? I'm confused..

did you patch the ISO before you burned it for ESR? I'm guessing not.
first download the patcher from the main ESR thread.
patch the ISO, then burn it at a low speed.
what the patch does is change the disc type from a DVD-ROM to a DVD Video so the PS2 will think it's a video disc and register it. And what ESR does is look beyond the patch to boot the game.

Yeah, it was patched with ESR Disc Patcher GUI v2.4
When I go to my browser it does say the disc is a DVD Video disc

I just used the CogSwapLoader. It worked fine on the original FFXII backup. The PSX game is in much better shape than my GS2 disc, but I'd still rather use ESR if someone knows what the problem is.

Burning speed maybe? my copy works pretty well, some slowdowns here and there if i play from disc, dont know if it has something to do with the hdloader patch i applied to it or the quality of the media

Well I figured it out, it must have just been a bad burn. Burnt at 2x on Sony DVD-R and now FFXII, KH2, and MGS3:S are all working!!!
