Meaning of ESR color flashes?
Meaning of ESR color flashes? –

Excuse my ignorance. I'm a new user of Free McBoot and I love it.
ESR has been quite successful but I was wondering what the color flashes meant when loading the disc. Is there a specific meaning? Should I be worried if I see x number of flashes or y color?
I tried searching but thought he forum but didn't find any relevant information.
Perhaps someone can help. Thanks in advance!

But hopefully this will pass in time through experience.

Good, but the correct project name is "Free McBoot" or FMCB for short. The forum is named for an older project with similar purpose, but which died before getting started. It was only a bit later that the FMCB project rose out of the ashes of that death, based on the same ideas, but with entirely new coders.
So this project is normally called FMCB, though the forum still is named for the older project.
And ESR is another separate project, though it is intended to be used with FMCB.

Yes. Each colour flash represents a specific step in the procedure of initializing the CDVD driver patches and for launching a game. This is intended to help with beta version debugging, and should be removed in a final 'stable' version. But so far all releases have been beta releases.
The specific meaning of each colour has not been made public as far as I know, and it does not really concern a user of the program, but only the programmer (ffgriever).
Should I be worried if I see x number of flashes or y color?
No. You should only worry if the game fails to launch, or fails to work at a later stage. For those cases you should note all relevant facts, including the colour flashes and at exactly what point the game failed, and report it all in the sticky thread for "ESR - bug reports".
