Okay, this is what I got.

    PS2 Slim 70012
    Free McBoot 1.8
    ESR Beta 9b
    & ESR Patcher 0.24a

I'm kind of confused on how to do the patching. I made an ISO of FFXII and patched it, but when I put it in and go into ESR it's says Unknown Media in Drive.

Is there something else I need to do to get this to work? There is no read me or anything included with the patcher or anything.

What program did you used to make and especially burn the image(some programs don't do very good job at burning those patched images)

I recommend you to use ImgBurn, and it's also good idea to use DVD+R and booktype them to DVD-ROM

I used MagicISO to make and burn the ISO.

Are there any steps that I missed or something. I want to make sure I'm doing this right...

    Use ImgBurn:
Create image - Start the program=>Create image file from disk=>from destination choose where the image to be saved and name it and save as ISO
Patching - Open the patcher and patch the image
Burning - Start the program=>Write image file to disk=>from source choose the patched image=>choose the speed(I prefer 4x)and if you're going to use DVD+R and have LG,Lite-On,Optiarc or Samsung the booktyping will be automated=>and burn it.

Okay, remade the ISO and am burning it now.

I don't know what the default burning speed is on this DVD drive, but it was set to AWS and I set it to 4x.

make sure that you don't use a dvd-RW at all. try to use dvd+ (plus type) instead of the minus type. slim consoles are more compatible with the plus type rather than with the minus type or at least this is what i've read before.

IMGburn or dvd decrypter are your best burn softwares to use. if your burner is an older one then i'd that you burn at a slow speed or med speed if possible for best results.

    OMG

    I luvs you(No homo)

I don't understand why it didn't work on the first one though. I had it set to 8x in MagicISO. I've also used MagicISO to burn PS2 games before as well.

MagicISO is not very good for PS2 games and as noetikos said,ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter(the old version of ImgBurn)are the best

The definite reason why the first attempt failed is that MagicIso is unable to rip proper PS2 iso files. The only tools recommended for that purpose are DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn, which is in fact a later version of the same program, like vsub said.

Personally I prefer using DVD Decrypter, as rumour has it that the author has removed some of the ripping functionality it had, in proceeding with the ImgBurn project. But I think this only related to DVD-Video ripping, and not to PS2 games.

Anyway, once you have a valid iso file any decent CDVD program can burn it to a new disc though most of them are unable to create valid iso files from original PS2 game discs.

    Best regards: dlanor
