    'Before' what ?

The software doesn't change behaviour of itself, so if something has changed it must be due to something you did.

But now it doesnt. How do i launch esr.
With FMCB v1.6 this is normally done simply by selecting the ESR entry in the OSDSYS menu, or if already running uLaunchELF, then to use its launch methods to start ESR.

I tried pressing the launch free mc option but that doesnt do anything. So how do i launch esr?
There has never been any option just named "free mc", but an OSDSYS menu entry slightly similar to that was used in FMCB v1.5, but this was not very clearly implemented. What it will do depends on variations of your install that I don't know. Normally it should have started uLaunchELF, but apparently you made an install without uLE. That is a very bad idea, as uLE is the main tool for correcting your setup when something has gone wrong.

I suggest that you install FMCB v1.6 instead, and this time make a complete install so you don't lack anything that you're supposed to have.

    Best regards: dlanor

    Well i'm following this guide.
    http://www.aoinamida.com/fmcbesr/esrdvdplayer.html
but after i installed it i couldn't launch ule again.

And it used to automatically just start esr as soon as the ps2 starts up but like a few hours later it stopped doing that. It just went to the normal ps2 stuff. [Before it didn't do the normal ps2 start up, just esr logo then colors]

.... First you probably shouldnt use esr as your boot.elf. sure you could if that all your ever gonna be using, it just makes more sense to use ulaunchelf since anything else you can think of using can be accessed from it, not to mention all files can now be accessed either from ulaunchelf the browser or by hotkeys.

on another note i didnt ever download or use any kind of dvd player thing, and ESR has worked flawless just from using the patcher and elf files.

    That tutorial looks old.
